Yeah, if you want a nation of sickly females with low self esteem, sure. I know you meant what you said in the context of a joke, but the image of what is accepted as beautiful in this country is very distorted, and has led to a lot of people punishing their bodies to try to reach an artificial goal. We would be better off with a Barbie with realistic, healthy proportions.
how much material does it actually take to produce a pda? I dought more then 10 bucks. So 577 bucks. for the design and manufactoring per pda doesn't that seem like alot?
Would you care to enlighten us with the research you did that made you arrive at that $10 figure? Maybe quoting some component costs from vendors or whatnot? Oh, what's that? You just pulled that number out of your ass?
Uh, news flash. Vague guesses do not make a PDA cost less than $10 to make, just because that's what you 'feel' it is. Do some research into the costs of color LCD displays that size alone, never mind the other components... I dare you to find me one that's less than $10.
Pledging allegiance to the US does not mean pledging allegiance to the US Government. As a citizen of this country, it is your patriotic DUTY to question and hold responsible your government for its actions, and make sure the government represents the will of the people. Remember, the people grant the government power, not vice versa.
Wow.. so in other words.. um.. Google is competing with other companies in the search engine arena? Google is fast, has a clean interface, unobtrusive ads, a good signal to noise ratio, the ability to search anything from webpages to news to store catalogs, and a rabidly loyal following. I see no reason why it will be having a hard time anywhere in the near future.
Depends on the version, but some of them you 'beat' by clearing a certain minimum number of levels- the Game Boy version did this, and gave you different endings depending on how well you did. (though you had to do pretty damn well to get 'em)
ddr is exercise about as much as mall walking is. Break a sweat, fine. You aren't burning fat thats for sure.
Yeah, the Konami employees were sitting around one day, and noticed how much.. uh.. little fat people were burning off doing DDR. So they added a diet mode to the home version so you could see how much.. er.. I mean little fat you were burning off. I have a friend who burned off 60.. I mean 0 pounds playing DDR.
You're probably also one of those who thinks Olympic style power walking is easy..
Yeah.. uh.. I take it you haven't played much.:P Anyone who's played a decent amount of DDR knows how much of a workout it can be. Hell, I was on the crew team for two years at college and the hardest DDR songs still escaped me. I suppose the lack of exercise involved explains my friend losing 60 pounds playing, too. Just because you don't lift your legs doesn't mean it's not exercise. Stand up and shuffle your legs back and forth as fast as you can... you'll get tired out pretty quickly.
...SuperDuper-VGA resolution and turn it into a glossy usability nightmare.
Agreed on the point that a better user experience should not be linked to a better display, but hopefully displays will steer clear of that path. What I'd like to see is screens with better visibility indoors and outdoors, cheaper (power-wise) backlighting, more accurate color reproduction, better viewing angles, better durability, etc. Unfortunately, you may be right about the "glossy SuperVGA nightmare".. anyone who has spent a fair bit of time with a GameBoy Advance knows what a nightmare that display is. Great color and resolution, but good luck trying to SEE the damned thing.
'Human-computer interfaces will rapidly improve during the next decade. The wide availability of cheaper display technologies will be one of the most transformational events in the IT industry.' Not exactly a scoop, isn't?
More of one than you think.. I don't think he's talking about your monitor. In almost all consumer electronic devices, know what the most expensive component usually is? Yup, it's the display. Reduce the price of that, and all of a sudden, those consumer devices have a lot more to work with. More screens, better screens, enhanced power, cheaper price, etc... if we can reduce the cost of the display significantly, it can only mean good things for consumer electronics.
Thank you, I'm glad someone noticed.
Simply because there are obesity issues does not mean that there aren't also issues with the opposite.
I don't recall caring what you thought.

Yeah.. I really enjoyed Kiln People. But then I got sent to prison..
Nono, you're supposed to call me a smartass now. ;)
My IP is 127.0.0.1. Do your worst.
You're a dumbass.

Chances are, though, that the system would use no GNU software. It's far more likely that the machine just uses the Linux kernel.
The GPL only requires you to release the source to a party if you also gave that party the binary.

It was probably because Case is not the CEO of AOLTW, he is the Chairman of the Board.
The CEO is Richard D. Parsons.
Uh... you're new here, aren't you.
Well, at least you have an excuse. I, unfortunately, typed it in.
It's hard to be a troll when you read a story and don't comment on it. Maybe it should feature the ./ trolls, as the Trolls.
Except email has a destination, while software does not.

Well, if your hard drive is corrupt, you've effectively closed all the security holes on your system anyway. =)
