Once again they (BPI) are taking the easy "sue you" route, instead of going after the masses of scumbags who are pirating, duplicating and selling music at carboot sales, markets, seaside promenades and suchlike DAY IN DAY OUT.
Surely more money is lost this way than with "filesharing", and I'm sure the taxman would have something to say about the loss of revenue due to music sold and bought by these means.
How many files must a man share on P2P networks before he is classed a major filesharer? I dont see people handing over money for this, its purely their bandwidth - The file sharer gets no monetary reward for his actions.
How many counterfeit cds must a man sell before he gets noticed and prosecuted? The first time a counterfeit cd is sold, say with 20 tracks he has made more money than somebody who has shared millions of files using a P2P network.
Why is this modded up as informative when it isnt even true? All development boxes have 128mb onboard as standard, but nearly all (more than 99.9%) retail xboxes, modded or not have 64mb standard as the ram upgrade is just too much of a pain to be worthwhile , especially with almost everything that needs extra ram on the homebrew front (emulators) have virtual memory settings, even MameOX was given virtual memory support recently.
Or did MP3s only become popular *BECAUSE* the music was stolen in the first place anyway?? And so the trend
Mp3s -> Mp3 Players -> ???? -> Profit ?
I may not be speaking for the masses, but the key thing about having my music in my player of choice (Archos AV340) is the fact that I can take the music from *any* source, and because I choose to download the mp3s rather than re-recording from original Vinyl, ripping from CD, remastering from cassette, 8track etc Is purely a matter of my taste and value of my time.
Prevent people from using music easily that they ALREADY LEGAL OWN in one format or another, and see that format/player go the way of the BETAMAX.
I think so. See here for an example of Brain the dog from the Inspector gadgert cartoon series wearing a collar of such majesty. Maybe Inspector Gadget inspired a lot more than we realise!

It may be worth knowing in this case that you can sign up MSN messenger to use any email address, but this requires a windows machine I believe. You have to enter your (non hotmail/msn) email address when asked to sign in for passport, then you will be sent an email asking to confirm that address. once you do so, you can set up a password and MSN will work without having a hotmail account at all!
Oh well, lets not worry about hotmail! I think its actually a *GOOD* idea that people are prevented from using outlook and or outlook express:) And Microsoft came up with this idea?? Thats two birds with one stone. Bring on the Gmail!
Ps. I still have gmail invites for those that want one.
Winxp is chugging down at least a gig and a half, and really doesn't offer me much more than nt4 did.
What?? Are you trying to tell us that the nice rounded safe buttons, pretty green wallpaper and network killing security issues arent worth the $150 price tag?? Surely you jest! To me, when I think Microsoft, I think "Small Software", ah, so much for so little, what a happy family we are!
There must be a preference setting somewhere that says "show me the porn and sick stuff" because so far the two links (resident evil and hello) havent showed me either anime porn or our great goat leader....
We have this in a few uk banks, certainly the one I use called Cahoot webcard which is an online tool, you login into your online banking account, and request a card valid for 1 month with the amount you specify. Ive never had a problem with this and its perfect for online sales and even telephone credit card orders as they cant screw your account over and over for more money.

Hmmm now if I could only do it the other way around.
:)
You want a Mac on Fable?
Just put the audio cd in, click import, get back on with your work.
What about from other sources? There are more legal formats than just CD, which my original post stated.
I agree, you do not need computer skills to mp3 a CD.

1. Start ebay auction promoting "make money fast" 2. Collect details of "buyers" 3. Sell info the the Hutts 4. CowboyNeal!

Or you could just use firefox and press the middle button (or depress the mousewheel in) and it will open in a new tab.
it's like someone marketing the water bottle being able to hold 12 gallons, when it's clearly a 1 gallon bottle.
How do you know it isn't dehydrated water? Just take the gallon of dehydrated water, add water, SHAZZAM!
As a (mostly) happy firefox user, I have to say this:
:)
When the hell is the HTTP 1.1 Protocol going to be fixed in the mozilla family of browsers?
How long has this been broken? . No I will not fix it myself, Yes I can live with the broken-ness of it. No this is not a troll
As for the rest of the browser, I'm lovin' it! (Especially the extensions)
i don't see why WinME wouldn't be as it uses somewhat the same architecture.
Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
I'm not even going to bother trying to work the logic out on that one.

I like the way they advertise "MACROVISION PROTECTION BUILT IN!" like its a feature *FOR* the consumer!
And our hoverboards!
rather than X.COM which is of course paypal..
Yes but I can see the headline now!
