While I agree with the essence of your post, I do not agree with the statements you make. My sister has a kid which is ~1 years old. she made bad choices at the moment she got pregnant (getting pregnant was one) and now she have to face the consequence of her acts. and she faces it pretty well. She's more mature, she got back to shcool, she works hard and she is one really good and lovely mother. She play with her child every day, she talk to him etc etc. But at the beginning, she forgot to take time for here. She was working 30 hours a week, studiing while the kid was sleeping, and always care of him when she was at home. But then, after 9 months of no enough sleeps, not enough everything for her, she got sick. Really sick. She had to stay in hospital for almost 3 weeks. Since then, she is still a lovely mother, she still work hard and is still studying. But once in a while, she bring the kid to my mother over for a weekend and she just go take some fresh air. She put aside all her problems and relax. She is now in really good shape and is kid is quite happy.

And now, about the parental responsability. While I think that parents are majorly responsible for what will become thir child, I am not in favor of them being responsible for their child. Not when they are 17-18-19 + years old. I could understand at something like 2years old that if the kid breaks a window or something, the parent should pay. But at 18, your are responsible for your acts, your are able to make bad or good decisions and that doen't mean that you've got bad or good parents. I've got good parents who've done all what they COULD to give us the best education possible. But they are not super-heroes. I've made some pretty nasty things when I was yonger. Sold and took drugs, get caugh etc etc. And they did all they could to help me. But I just kept continuing this way for a while. Once I understood how stupid I was, I then accepted their help and accepted to help myself. I would not have change before and could't either, I had to understand things, make my own steps. Now, I'm maried, I'm working and have a pretty "stable" life. As stable as a geek could be... And I'm happy that my parents didn't have to be responsible for my acts cause what made me think about all that was that I was held responsible for my acts. When a kid is faced with the results of their act, bad or good, they learn. Somes like to call it "life experience"...

has what type of gun, they can decide wether one type of gun is not allowed and another is.
(Just like Kazaa could decide who could connect and who can't) But once you have
possession of your gun, no matter which kind it is, nothing stops you from shooting your
    neighboor. It's P2P shooting :)

so, Kazaa essentialy(forget spyware for a second)
verify who you are, what client you run and returns you a list of nodes to connect to. Once
there, they can't control to who you connect and what you exchange because they aren't involve

I mean, if I need to find valuable information, as in documentation, data, specs or anything, it won't help me at all?!? It is mainly used to share "binary files" for now, nothing prevents it from sharing "text file" like web page, xml files (if ever I would need one of any kind) or even PDF(I know, those are not text). But currently, one have to search based on files name/meta informations. Not really helpfull if I search for a websit talking about block cipher for exemple. I understand the need for real sharing of data as in information, and it includes media files as well, but there is a lack in my sense which will need to be filed. I think the world could relleay benefit from a P2P system which would allow users to share ideas, knowledge and you name it, in a much more open and accecible way then the net as we know it. I said as we know it cause it's not true that the guy at his computer down in montreal for exemple can easily acces "the mass" without having to really show the money to either "promote" is web site, paying a good connection and etc etc. P2P could solve this as a way for the information to freely ride throu wires and be publishable to everyone. Then, using a standard way of indexing those information, one could easilly browse throu it and find what ones really search for, not 275 000 sites dedicated to sale a product which I don't care and ) sites about what I want because those pages whill probably never get indexed in any major search engine.

Flying cars would not be a problem in itself, it all depends on the speed/weight when it hits a building. Also, what causes the the building to colapse was the high heat of the burning fuel, not the hit. A car really doesn't have as much fuel inboard as a plane... Even if it isn't true, it gives most people confidence on what they buy. I remember hearing a story about Goldstar(correct me if I'm wrong), wich was selling their stuff very cheaply in chain store ala Wallmarth. Well, sells were not that bright and somebody there went with a new business model: selling the same stereo in "specialized" stores at 2 or 3 times the price. Well, they began to sell pretty well... I for sure would never buy an mp3 player at 1500$ but Average Joe probably would buy it to complement his home stereo/65"TV/etc etc because it's expensive, it looks cool, it does the job without any hassle and he feels confident that at 1500$, it got to worth it.
