I used Shitty Stage to transfer MP3s ONCE to my Clie, and stopped. I now directly drag/drop mp3s onto the memorystick and use another mp3 program to play it such as Aeroplayer.
Although the variety of formats supported by the "other" mp3 players are nice such as Vorbis!, memory sticks are not worth the price, CF on the NX80 is too much effort, battery life is kinda short, and the lack of the iPod's slick interface besides iTunes integration and organization (Winamp missed the boat here too) makes even this flexible predecessor unattractive.
Of course you h264 directly from the source that was used to make the MPEG2 instead of going MPEG2 -> MPEG4. Then you end up with quality just as good, or better, than the MPEG2 without the blocking or size.
It's ironic that "anti-virus" software companies don't spend their time patching Windows -- to be really effective. Instead, they let you subscribe to their reactive database that catch things in the act instead of just permanently fixing it.
Remember the hey-days of VBS viruses? The instant easy fix would've been to entirely disable windows scripting host, but did the "anti-virus" companies do that?
I think something about 'no profit' is the problem.
You probably know this but it would be more accurate to say "you're letting the heat out m*therf*cker!" since heat flows from hot to cold.
Alternatively, colder air has more pressure and density than hot air so opening the door would cause vapor pressure equalization by letting the cooler air flow in along the floor (which you will feel as a draft) while letting the hot air out along the ceiling (which you feel as general lowering of ambient temperature) until temperature is equalized.
3) Who has the time to investigate or extend Linux, and why bother when there is Windows? I've read up a little on Linux and I like its feature set better than Windows, but I'd have to spend time learning about administering, backing up, restoring, configuring, and tuning it properly. I've already put that time into Windows and right now I need to learn the ins and outs of asterisk on top of my usual workload. Windows is running just fine, why switch now? When we develop an app for distribution which would not meet Windows's requirements (e.g, requiring us to GPL the product), THEN I will put time into learning Linux.
Postgres is very natural coming from Oracle. Table creation by the command line through Oracle's SQL*Plus and PostgreSQL's similiar psql is "how it has always been done" before MySQL.
He did say, "invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration". Which does translate into those who work harder and longer achieve more than the "super-stars" who are here today gone tomorrow.
Mozart was a flaming blowtorch, but Beethoven was just as good painstakingly working at it note for note.
If you've seen Frontline's Diet Wars a lot of it could be due to the "Low Fat" craze. Low fat foods are not low calorie foods. In fact, they're only a few cals different from the full-fat foods. The food makers make up with something else when they remove one ingredient. Low-fat could mean high sugar/carbs instead for instance. Full-fat salad dressing is healthier than low-fat, because veggie fats are good for you, etc.
Dieting is actually all about restricting caloric intake instead which hasn't been the focus. If the Earth 2 biodome results were any indication, restricted caloric intake extends your life too.
Seen that can of soda? From 100 to 160 calories right there.. Then you have a big 1000 cal lunch and dinner (Carl's Jr?), and you're already beyond the normal 2000 calories males should be intaking a day.
This is why Atkins and South Beach seem to work because they're all about low-calorie meals (meat is slow-burning, low-cal, and high fat), and at least South Beach seems to be about eating healthier too.
Get rid of the soda machines, make the kids walk to school (with 5 pounds on each foot preferably:), would be just as effective. Then you DDR for the Olympics.:)
Disclaimer: I'm a former DDR addict also, but I've lost more inches through just pilates and a no soda diet. Still 160lbs.
You guys need to go back to school and research why joystick controls of the first cars were abandoned. It's something called IMMUNITY to G-Forces and vibration from a bumpy and rocky road as well as other situations. The game floor is VERY different from a real road ride. Then there's the aspects of having independent controls such as accelerator and brake. This is the same for bicycles and for them scooters for the handicapped.
There's a reason why some rally cars have independent front/rear braking pedals. Sure that may be not an everyday example, but it's still more representative than trying to reinventing the controls from the unreality of video games.
Unless you are flying/floating like a plane, it is pointless to try to reinvent the wheel with controls of such low resolution and fidelity controlled by sub-par limbs of coordination, the thumbs.
The reason for accidents on the road happens to be more a direct result of poor driver competance than from poor controls. If you eliminate any driver that can't pass the B-license driver's test from Gran Turismo (1-4) at the level most drivers are subjected to in Europe or Japan, THEN can you start thinking about if the controls are an issue.
Way back then, C as a name made logical sense. Byte usage was expensive, and so the less letters, the better. This is why there's so many two letter commands in UNIX.
So C followed language B which followed language A. Made perfect sense. There's no D or E I guess..
You didn't point out a lot of European thinking, art, crafts, history arose in the thousand years before the Dark Ages (of Intelligent Design)+400 years by those Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
So we had a large amount of development, a millennia bat to the frontal lobes slumber for the Dark Ages, and the rediscovery and finally new innovations.. Makes you wonder what was lost before the Greeks and Egyptians... Of course, this entirely ignores the almost continuous 4K years of Chinese history that should be much more complete than the European tales.
I don't really believe people "started" thinking only 4K years ago considering how fast we can develop with only 400 to 1K years. Makes you really want to believe in Atlantis of 10K years past.
What does suck about Google Mail is it doesn't support subthreading.. Considering how complex email reply threads could get, this single-threaded web-forum-like interface is a huge step backwards from pine, mutt, and Thunderbird by making it difficult to see what was this email replying too which subject.
He probably means some mirroring type of RAID such as 1, or 1 + 0. And even then, mirror the RAID to another raid, which I've done on the enterprise level.
Orson Scott Card in his Ender's Shadow series? has mentioned that a land that has to proclaim their ideals of liberty and freedom so loudly redflags something. Specifically, that in order to maintain those "ideals".. it is a police state, or very much like Orwellian 1984. This seems very close to fascism to me.
Of course, they're probably monitoring Slashdot very closely because it would be a hotbed of miscontent and future t 3 r ro r1 sts.

wait until it's no longer a "suggestion" as required by laws for the "security" and future "well-being" of the country. Such a Brave New World!
especially the bit about a bouquet of peonies.
Maybe poniesQL might have helped saved LKML instead. Every connection gives it more 5 more horse power.
Notice those two successful formats are open formats. Walkman was built on the open-format tape.

Makes you wonder what Sony missed from that to now

Well, the H2 Prius can get projected 100 miles (Hydrogen ICE vehicle) & reality ~80 miles to a two-H2-canister tank!
Now, wasn't Duke Nukem released in 1991? So, it can't be forever top vaporware unless you can't find it in your local 7-11 anymore.
Why isn't there one on the left anymore? Is it because it may be low traffic compared to the other sections? Taco is going to phase this section out?
I've had to explicitly add it as a viewable section to the right in my logged in mode.
