White chocolate is cocoa butter mixed in with milk solids, vegetable fat, and sugar.
But what makes someone black? or white? Skin color? Common values? Shared experiences?
Democrats and "black leaders" claim that Colin Powell or Condoleeza Rice or Clarence Thomas are black in skin color only - that is, to be black, you can't be successful or a (**shudder**) republican, and anyone who has a different point of view is just another Uncle Tom working for the man.
Is OJ Simpson black? His skin color is, but he played golf, married white models, and lived in houses that most slashdot readers could never afford.
And Michael Jackson? He doesn't look black. He's had his nose, cheeks, and chin surgically enhanced to look white. He lives in a 12-million dollar house, and at one point had a net worth of $750 million dollars.
A lot of people use race as a dividing line. Race isn't the problem, it's poverty and lack of education, and those problems aren't exclusive to any race.
Keep in mind they do have some code available as "Shared Source", and they've also made the source code available to some companies and universities (I had access to most of the NT 4 source code when I was in school) [and governments now?]
Of course, it would be bad for business if someone without an NDA got ahold of the complete longhorn source code.
I'm a freelance Open Source consultant/programmer. Currently, I have a contract with a Fortune 1000 company, I'm overseeing a project to switch them to GNU/Linux/Open Source software.
As part of that project, we identify deficiencies in Open Source software, and pay for new features, etc. Depending on what software is, I may do it myself and submit it back to the author, but I also have a budget to pay others to do the work for me - usually one of the maintainers - sometimes cash, sometimes new hardware, sometimes pizza
It works out well, but the bounty opportunities aren't public. I don't know how the community would react if some big corporation put the bounty out there - some zealots would complain about it I'm sure (conflict of interest, buying out open source, etc), though that isn't an issue when gnome.org declares the bounty.
It might work out if gnome.org (for example) accepted RFF (requests for features) from companies and individuals along with a bounty, maybe did some limited screening, and then made the bounty available, so the programmers wouldn't know who requested the feature.
lynx does not support CSS. it doesn't even support tables, though, so the CSS version looks a little better in lynx than the real version (I just tried it).
links supports tables, but at 80x25 resolution, it sucks to navigate, and i find lynx easier to deal with.
If the iPod were a graduation present from an old man who turned 98, won the lottery, and died the next day, it could have sentimental value that another (used) one of the shelf doesn't have.
Also, what about any music you have on the hard drive? Hard drived do have a MTBF. If you get one that's been used 24-7, it may have a shorter life span (although if you use it sparingly, you might not ever find out).
more like intentional as in "I did extra work to ensure that the return address on the email was jane12357@aol.com even though that's not my email address" vs "I was using netscape at the public library to send an email and forgot to set the email preferences".
Anybody remember the Adam Sandler comedy bit: "Sex or Weightlifting?"

coincidence? maybe. maybe not. Anyhow, last night I was at a party, and a girl asked if she could borrow my anal beads. Sure I replied, but only if I could borrow her butt-plug. Anyhow, we both learned new ways to pleasure ourselves. I suggest all slashdot readers go to an orgy now and then and try something new.
that's a good point about age. For adults, it's not an issue (did anyone notice Seinfeld getting older?). I don't remember the Married... With Children teenagers getting much older, but for a Bart or Bobby,... they're no Gary Coleman.
MAC
hasn't done any worthwhile innovation on the desktop since they ripped
of Unix's X, (Which MS quickly ripped off for Win95).
Hint: The first Mac was released in 1984, which means the Mac OS GUI was in development before then. The Lisa (1983) had a mac-like GUI as well, and it's well established that they were based off the Xerox/PARC work. MIT athena wasn't started until 1984, and wasn't publicly available until 1986. X Windows itself didn't even feature a GUI - toolkits like Athena, Motif, GTK, QT, etc are needed if you want UI features like buttons, menus, etc.
Far better than the OSX solution IMHO, where the machine cannot be used without the GUI
Sure it can. You might not ssh in and use Microsoft Office X, but I can't ssh into my linux box and use KOffice from the command-line either. But I do ssh into my G5 for remote sysadmin activities, same as I used to do with my NeXT slab (well, it was telnet back then).
Oracle walks a dangersous path running on linux. Sure, the money saved by using linux/x86/oracle vs solaris/SPARC/oracle is significant, but linux can be a gateway drug to other Open Source/FREE software. Once PHBs realize that the OS is a commodity, the next step is realizing the DB is also a commodity. Postgresql or mysql isn't suitable for enterprise-level work, but it's more than suitable for small internal projects that used to mean extra orcle seats.
CmdrTaco's last journal entry mentions possible change to moderation. About fucking time, but they're pretty good at fucking stuff up.

Country musicians are more likely to be white
Slashdot readers are more likely to be virgins
That doesn't make the country racist.

have you tried that with DRM files? iTunes has a menu option to convert AAC -> MP3, but not for DRM files.
according to Steve Jobs, iTMS goes directly from the studio master recording to AAC
In the long run, communism lost and capitalism won.
Consider this: intel was unable to get an injunction against a former employee mass mailing them.
Now go protest against globalization or chain yourself to a tree or something.

Actually, it is that easy. If you arent' afraid of being slapped, punched, or maced 99% of the time.
Or those dukes of hazzrd/general lee freaks that play their "dixie" horns when they see each other.

Linux is a kernel. It doesn't have a UI. Maybe you're thinking of X-Windows, or KDE, or GNOME. None of those are linux-specific, however.
