    And those are in India... Here the H1-b workers come from. They don't have to pad half their education with expensive non-core classes to make the Colleges feel happy.

    Because those crackdowns are almost entirely against tan people. One of the fundamental requirements in the Constitution is that all citizens are treated with the same rights in every state. (And had we nailed that down in 1865 and sooner things would be way simpler).

    Effectively no state can make you "prove" you are a lawful citizen of some other state... The same rights are extended to everybody. By extension, a state can't make you prove you are from one part or another either... As much as they try to do that by flagging license plates.

    That's effectively what these laws are.. Permission for the "nice parts of town" to round up people from the "bad" part of the state for staying on the nice side after clipping the grass.

    The thing is that TV has MANDATORY licensing... So FOX doesn't technically have to "prepay" or ask to use any music they want. The INDIVIDUAL stations punch their cards and turn in X royalties per musical number for every Commercial and Show they air.... This avoids the "YouTube" problem, of infringing background music, everybody keeps bringing up.

    He can probably get the song taken down from iTunes as that is a seperate distribution.

    So put one up in YOUR COUNTRY. Microsoft is primarily a US company and for this app to be any use, your local government would have to coordinate with Microsoft. This is bleeding edge new, and probably doesn't even have anybody "listening" over 95% of the USA... In the EU they would have to have warranty and staffing or get accused of "false advertising" you can't just "float an idea" like this without massive government intervention... So Microsoft isn't even going to let you try it.

    I'll back off the linear algebra...

    How about the gun displays a random 3 digit number, and you have to enter the next 12 digits of pi after that... And no repeats within 100 reloads. That ought to slow shooters down, how many people with self-defense have to reload at all?

    All magazines of 10 rounds must have a 5 pound barbell welded on. That will add stability to rifles for hunters. And anybody wanting to carry more than a few will have to work out.

    They should also make removing Magizines require solving a multi dimension linear algebra problem. That will be good for math and science scores!

    I think the point is that the "professionals" in the US Army can't seem to stop from being shot with THEIR OWN GUNS they have purchased and trained selected individuals to use. So if the US Government can't train and select people that won't mass-murder why are we worried about citizens with toy guns?

    And yes, people are only allowed to own toy guns... The M16 (OMG SCARY!!!) is the "cheapest allowed" gun to equip troops with. When the Gubbermint comes for you, they'll be packing P90's and higher with HUNDREDS of rounds per reload. The difference between 10 and 30 rounds is trivial.

    Mickey Mouse will never be public domain... The Mouse is used all over Disney every day as a trademark.

    The specific WORKS would be public domain... So copy them all day, post on the Internets. Trying to make NEW works would be difficult because Disney is still using that character.

    Lego sells just the NXT "brick" for about $125-$150. Sensors and motors are $20-$50 each. (6 accessories is another $150-$200) So they are in line with what you think they should charge..

    LEGO isn't an electronics company, so they're probably not getting a great deal wholesale given how picky they are and the volume.

    First, they haven't distributed these yet.

    Second, they only have to make source code available to those who they distribute binaries to... Not joe public.

    I'm very sure when this gets shipping in the Summer Lego will have a portal up with all the goodies.

    Except banks aren't people (just persons). If they breech any of the banker rules, then they stop existing.

    One of the rules is "are you liquid" when they triggered the rule at the end of the quarter, they didn't have enough cash and assets to pay off the bad loans outstanding... As well as other financial obligations.

    In M:tG terms they were "decked", round was over on the spot. Then Federal Feldon came along to fix their situation. They still have the cane up their ass.

    Those are also ignored by Capitalists that find "a great new way" to make staggering profits... Again, by forcing employees, vendor, customers to all give something up. In fact that's why the bubble burst in the first place... The "unseen" hand if the Free Market gave a visible Bitch Slap because the priests of the "unseen hand" were too greedy.

    The single largest debt holder of GM was the Union in the form of pension obligations. Whenever a company goes bankrupt, EMPLOYEES are typically paid first. The amount of pension outstanding was most of GM's value. Now that the Union has that obligation, they will sell the shares to pay the benefits. Nothing hinkey at all.

    This is CAPITALISM at its finest. Somebody needs money... You get whatever you want out of them short of sexual favors...

    Capitalism isn't about FAIR dealing, it's about POWER. The Feds had the money, the banks had to take the money because their numbers fell down. Just like a customer takes a payday loan at 309% APR so they don't get their car repo'd right this minute. (And yes, the big banks own all those companies if you follow the money trail)

    So no hard feelings. Ok.

    Basically they want somebody like Space X to move in to the facilities. Of course most of the DoD contractors that could chop in for this are gonna underbid or wait for these to close up... There's more money in charging for "repair" to rotted facilities than to take over existing ones. Really only a year or two unoccupied will "kill" these as they include state of the art clean rooms and rocket assembly facilities. Once the doors open, those are ruined with years to clean them up again. Those DoD contractors will get to charge DOUBLE when NASA needs those again.

    Ha. Ha, NASA.. Your expensive contractors got their money. "National Treasures" don't come before the bottom line.

    Then you'll move your feet (and $$) to hardware that does play. Because the new locked-down BIOS is coming, you'll only be buying unlocked hardware, and certified boards to go with it.

    Basically you'll stay on Win7, but when new hardware drops you'll get "Linux capable" or you just won't play "PC" games anymore. Ironically, if Microsoft pushes Valve and Blizzard to this it will make Mac Ports trivial as well. Apple doesn't seem in a rush to lock down Macs. That's their Developer platform. They are just moving most of their sales to iOS.

    I think they will probably follow Steam and the supported platform there.

    With Windows 8 writing is on the wall that Microsoft will "App Store" everything. If you don't support "enough" maker share on Windows 8 they won't carry you... Or leave you at the bottom of the lists. Most AAA games will not pass because the hardware specs are STILL too high for new most NEW Windows 8 desktops... Let alone Surface.

    When the next Xbox rolls around, you can be sure M$ (yep I go there)is gonna squeeze game makers hard. Software in boxes is dead. The only way around the gatekeepers is gonna be using Linux under the hood. ID expect Ubuntu to grow the most. They have been begging for companies to SUPPORT them with money and software so they can stay Free, but support new tech. It was never a "good enough" deal when M$ (oops!) kept its monopoly shored up as a free-for-all but they are losing the $ quickly...

    Where Apple has been slowly simmering the pot. M$ is freshly free from oversight and they're gonna play "catch up" with Android and Apple in the DRM and lock-up department.
