  1. Mac Hall attacks! on Super Audio CDs Rolling Your Way · · Score: 2, Informative

The excellent comic strip, Mac Hall, started a series of comics about this complete bullshit on monday. And I was just about to buy a new discman too..... What brands are "safe" to buy?

Yeah, if we really felt like it we could also probably make a joke out of "ice caps on their bandwith." But we're above those kind of horrible jokes, aren't we? BEOWULF CLUSTER!!!

  4. Ummmm on One Step Closer to NWN for Linux · · Score: 1

Yeah, I only submitted about 5 different things on this when the small but fervent forum community was fighting to get Bioware to give us any information on the Linux client at all!! Where in the hell was Slashdot then?
We could have used you! We went through 11 20+ page threads pressing for linux client info before this happened. Why does /. only step in after the smoke has cleared?

  7. Re:Ooooh, support for a Blizzard game! on Transgaming's WineX 2.1 - Supports WarCraft 3 · · Score: 1

That's right, BLIZZARD didn't do anything. But do you know what happens when you go out and spend $70, hoping to lube up Bill Roper's flagpole? That's right, genious, since Vivendi owns Blizzard it is logical to assume that they are getting some cut of the profit. I have no clue how that works, it could be anywhere from 10% to 50%, but I refuse to support a company that smacks down OSS projects because it can't take the time to understand the issues at hand. And I'm still waiting for my goddamn Linux NeverWinterNights Client...

  9. Re:Poor CD key algorithm on Blizzard, Bnetd Respond on Bnetd Shutdown · · Score: 1

I was also amused to learn that Blizzard insists that this is being done for the good of their "proprietary cd key algorithm." I'm not quite sure how far up their asses their heads are, but I have friends who have cd key generators that let them play sc on battlenet. How secretive can that be? However, I wholeheartedly support their right to do whatever they want with their code and their right to regulate how their game is played. Remember that no matter how many of us boycott it, the general public will still buy it like crazy. And as for me? I'll be playing a good RTS, Warlords Battlecry 2. 8 factions to choose from, maybe more. AND it supports TCP/IP games. Much better.
