Animals adapt to so they can survive. A perfect example is near Chernobyl. Animals have "evolved" I guess you could say in that area to withstand the radiation of the area to the point where is doesn't effect them any longer. Something humans could do also but we don't want to go through all the deaths to make that evolution happen so we wear suits and such to get around it.
3.1 Billion or let Microsoft automatically become the #2(Maybe #1?) On-line advertising service on the Internet? Which do you think Google is going to choose?
If they can't straight forward answer the questions the case should be thrown out. The judge so far has been pretty smart to call SCO on this kind of stuff. Hopefully the judge calls them on their BS again.
It has a backdoor built into it for the NSA, so I doubt it's stopping anyone that would really want that information anytime soon. You would think this would be common knowledge.
DirecTV has the rights to Sunday Ticket...not Dish. DirecTV has paid out the nose for exclusive rights too. Billions of dollars in rights fees just to have it exclusive.
I doubt the NFL would sign an exclusive deal with Comcast or Cablevision. Comcast or Cablevision aren't a national company like DirecTV or Dish is. Also the Extra Innings package for MLB will be DirecTV only starting this season also. Another feather in the cap to DirecTV.
on the planet.....I never believed it for a second. I really do believe we are one of the dumbest animals on the planet. Only dumb animals would let the planet fall apart like it is and not doing anything to save it.
I'm sorry, but Blizzard having had to reboot the servers for 2 whole years now was very bad coding on Blizzard's part. Imagine if you had to reboot the servers at your job everyday? I doubt they would be around long.
It's actually more than one but either way I bet M$ and everybody coming up with these copy protection schemes have to think to themselves..."We always lose this war against the Pirates and the Hackers. Why do we even bother?"
Eve is about the closest we have gotten to a Sci-Fi MMO and it still lacks something for the "masses". The PVP system isn't for the masses and other than PVP in Eve it's a pretty slow game and doesn't translate well to the wowbies of the more popular mmo's. Star Trek On-line might be the last great hope for an excellent Sci-Fi MMO(unless Bio-ware decides to go Sci-Fi with the MMO they have in development). Star Trek has the planet based lore and the space based lore that appeal to two types of gamers. The ones that absolutely love flying around in space and the gamers that like to have their feet on the ground. There's soo much you could with a Star Trek MMO it's kind of scary.
Will Star Trek on-line be that? I doubt it from what I read they seem to be shorting the game already. You can only be Federation and you can't be one of the "evil" races in Star Trek(aka The Borg which everyone and their mother would be at launch). I hope I'm wrong and they hit one out of the park with Star Trek but I'm not holding my breath.
They said the AOL rep was fired but we all know he really wasn't. The tv show would have to beat some pretty big odds to get him again if they called back into AOL to try to confirm it.
99% of the USA doesn't even care(free's up a ton of bandwith) about the World Cup of Soccer so I highly doubt the Internet is suddenly going to implode.
Come on now, you can't totally pass judgement on the new look Slashdot until we get the "OMG PONIES!" look. Imagine this in pink...

They are really desperate to fit into the US market so they say "Hey, It's MS or nothing". If they really want to fit in they need to change their brand name.
on worthless lawsuits. He's gonna try and get the government to waste the taxpayers money. They do a good enough job without SCO's help.

I remember the review from the Angry Nintendo Nerd. It's so hilarious, this game is an abortion.

Why couldn't they use the Konami SNES/Genny Games instead? Much, much, better games!
Ahhhhhhhhhh the Digg kiddies are gonna be all in an uproar now...till they figure it out that's an April Fools Joke.

Anyone else shocked Norton is not included in this list?

Why? Because it's very unlikely we'll do anything about it and we'll just let it happen. It's sad to say but it's the reality of the situation.
The link is /. so I have no clue what is #1 but Hackers has to be #1. It was such a dumb movie but it had a very young Angelina in it!
HACK THE PLANET!
They invented something called Paragraphs and it doesn't even have any patents on it. Next time I suggest you use some.
IIRC, the terms of Directv's contract with Tivo is that they don't have to worry about being sued by Tivo for DVR tech.
Apparently you missed the boat, because when Everquest was at it's height of popularity. It wasn't uncommon to see accounts going for $2000+ easily.

WoW isn't faster on Linux. I've tried running WOW on Linux under Cedega and it's at least 15fps slower on my system.
We only walked on the moon in Hollywood not in Space!
I haven't used AIM in years. I've moved onto GAIM and promised myself never to be saddled with that bloated IM client known as AIM.
