Centrino guts, 10.4' 1024x768 screen all under 2 pounds! Its made of carbon fibre too! too bad it costs between 3-4 grand depending on options.
I dont want a big disk and screen in my laptop. 10.4 is fine, 12 is the biggest id want. I want battery life and light weight. So i ask you slashdotters, what good slim laptops do you like?
I know that most rendering packages have distributed rendering software, but XGrid will make it Apple easy! I know my campus would be great for it. At night there are 100s of G4s that just sit there, if they could easily get them teathered in to the renderfarm, it would be great. The only thing thatll hold this all back is per maching licensing costs:(
Im sure Samir Mathur took input from the undergrads while working out his solution. And since OSU headhunted him from MIT I wouldnt say that he is representative of OSU's professors in general.
The CAD guys i used to work with swear by them. A spaceball for their left hand and a mouse for their right. I found them a lil twitchy though, but i guess thats something you can adjust to or just adjust.
I guess we should never underestimate the stupidity of most Americans, especially the mindless drones that fill most "State" campuses nation wide. This jsut might work if they find people stupid enough to believe 2.0 is still Napster.
Thats all there is to it. It had its time, it made its splash, its part of our collective history now.
There is nothing Napster-like about 2.0, NOTHING. I think someone should sue them for false advertising, because Napster is supposed to be synonymous with free.
I saw a while back a video of a kid in a japanese arcade playing a rhythm game where you have to coordinate your hitting of 6 buttons on the unit with what sounded like a techno remix of a classical song. It was jaw dropping, but i cant find the link. The song was going nearly 200bpm and he was getting everything! The directions dropped from the top of the screen like in DDR, but they were dropping so frequently it looked like it was raining.
If you have a link please post it, ive been searching desparately for it for the past 2 weeks!
EA in my opinion makes crappy games. I havent bought one in over a decade.
If EA spent as much time/money developing new game concepts as i does on "expansion packs" i might buy their stuff. But they stick with the tried and true which to me == old and tired. Sure the sims was cool when it first hit, but not nearly as cool as the original "Sim" games. When Maxis was in control SimCity rocked, now it is lacking a soul. EA has a way of extracting the personality out of a game. I like playing games that you can see the developers passion in. Doom is a perfect example, it was made by people, not a bunch of codemonkeys doing the 9-5.
Im sure that EA has plenty of talented people working for them, thats not the problem. The company is too big, to "P.C.", and not willing enough to take risks. It would be nice to see them start a trend for once insted of following them.
Same here, everytime i bring it up to the NA he says that he opens up more bandwidth for it, but the fastest transfer ive had is 3kdown and 4kup. This is after 3 years of being able to get things off of FTPs at 2-300k, and that was when everyone was on kazaa and limewire. Now even http trafic maxes out around 60k.
What did the NA tell me to do about it? "Get Comcast to wire up your dorm." Because i dont pay enough through my exorbitant housing "IT" fees to pay for my bandwidth. Bullshit.
Lightwave and a reference to a good interface do not belong in the same statement. I realize and appreciate the power of lightwave, but christ, its interface is horrid. But then again i started 3D on Alias StudioTools 7years ago, so Maya was an easy transition. I just cant figure Lightwave out.

Anyone document this with some wicked screenshots?
Hmmmmm? Wonder why?

Not directly, but they are strongly implying it with the use of the Napster name.

Just another example of fine GM engineering!
thanks

I want metal slug for GC, and i want it now! And i want it 2D, none of this cheesy 3D stuff should mess up a good 2D classic, ya hear that Nintendo?

Ive been most impressed by the 'other' WMs though, the little guys. Some of the Fluxbox or icewm 'minimalist' desktops are cool.
Also dont forget that you can do most of this stuff to XP as well, with a few hacks that is.
Its the best reason for buying Colin McCree 3.
Actually I am taking a math course this semester, but its theoretical math.
HAH, you think id be stupid enough to do that? I found it on some smallfry forum and whored it, proper /. style.

works arround firewalls too!
True, so does mine, but its not nearly as stable, even in 11 all of the bugs arent ironed out.

Plus, i believe quite a few major houses have switched over to linux workstations, what do you think they use, Blender?
No offense to the blender guys btw.
