Of course, this doesnt work for movies. (dont think im a supporter of the AA's when i say this)
In their current FUBARed buisines model, they cant just sell DVDs right when you come out of the theater, because then you wouldnt go back and see it a second time.
Another point - there are a lot of artists out there. but motion pictures rake in a SHITLOAD more then a briteny sphears cd, so the people who make movies are more then compensated for their time and investment.
The only problem with downloading a million movies a day, is that youd run out of content to fast. honestly, how many movies are worth watching anymore?
(besides LOTR...;))

Of course the robots would work for charge at night, but honestly, how many people do you see feeling comfortable giving food orders to a robot, and not a person, when the robot wont have any visible means of relaying understanding of your order.
Not to mention that voice recognition is still not perfect.
Or of course, some places rely on their waitresses for enviorment, like hooters.
I go to GaTech, and i know that the undergrad has several different software engineering programs, so i figure the graduate should have a specialty in it.
They have to produce quality television, or people dont support them. Maybe public broadcasting's business model needs to be looked into.
Or some other plan - pay $5 or something a month for a cable service and then subscribe to the channels that you want at flat, low monthly fees. Of course, channels would then have to respond to consumer requests because they are now reliable on comsumer mmoney.
Your going to have to install wiring for speakers and the speakers themselves (or whatever your favorite 110 decibel alarm system has.. >:) ). Make sure all the wiring terminates in the room with the computer.
If they are speakers, sure, that $50 amp at radioshack would prolly work. (louder if needed, but the point is the same). In this case, mpg123 or xmms would would perfectly. (provided no one has a playlist running:) ).
Of course, if your a hardware hacker, there are numerous ways to write simple C programs to interface with the printer port, and also corresponding eletronic kits that can be set up as computer controlled relays and such.
Of course, where you where wanting different sounds for different events ("everyone stand for the coporate anthem"), then the mp3 or a wav player hooked up to an amp would be much more versitile, cost about the same, and be a lot easier to set up.
Yep. And proud of it too. Not going to stop me at all from going out and eating potato chips. And bread? your going to advise the recall of bread? im sorry, but humanity has been eating bread for what, thousands of years? No, i cant see bread going off the shelfs anytime soon.
Bill G has repeatedly stated how much the damned sky would fall if windows became open source. Well, i say fine, i want to see the sky fall. I challenge bill (damn, i hope some M$ employee reads/.) to go thru with the nine states suggestions. In fact, GO FARTHER. M$ is in a profit margin (it has to be). Completely pull of the market. If not disband M$, stop developing all M$ products. Gates view is that if M$ is forced to change, the comsumer is hurt. Fine, PROVE IT. In five years, if im hurting (bless you linus...) then youll be able to say "HAHAH - told you so!"
Vision recognition is going to eliminate the need for humans to relay the board state, and there are contests in which AIs play games in which they dont know the rules, and must deduce them from the results of their actions.
Also, computer are very good at following orders, unlike humans who have the "distinct advantage" of messing up over time.
(im not trying to sound anti human, i rather like our species, its just theres some things that computers and machines do better then us, like assembly line work, and some things that we do better, like research)
You shouldnt be bashing computers and programs for doing "worthless calculations", thats what we built the things for.
But whatever would the church of $cientology do with such a law in place?

Squeak is a really high level language that does multimedia real well, and runs on a variety of platforms.

Take a look at that from Bill "Blinders ON" Gates perspective.
In linux you can go and select EACH AND EVERY package you want or not. Nothing is forced on you. Dont want Konqueror? Fine, dont install it.
I dont know about mac cause i dont have one.

Not hardly. Mechanically extremely easy, we just have to write the software
