It looks like the old company is suing you in anticipation of the possibility of breach of an NCO or something. That's like arresting a five year old child because you think he's even remotely possibly going to murder someone twenty years down the road.
With no evidence that you've actually committed some kind of wrongdoing, your former employer has no leg to stand on, and this may constitute barratry - see if this is illegal in Texas, and look it up on Wikipedia. (Hint: it's the non-maritime flavor of barratry.)
These adverts don't do a thing to help customers make informed decisions, and they do little more than tell a brief bit about a drug - which doesn't exactly help. ("Feeling blue? Take Placebex! It might inhibit the neurons in your spleen!") Yes, they say ask your doctor, but they go on about how they cure you of what ails you.
Just what do they plan on doing if the Governator signs this into law? Will this create a Light Bulb Police force or something?
I can see it now. My parents are eating dinner at their home in Orange County, and then the battering ram bashes their house in. "We know you're running those 40-watt incans in the kitchen! Come out with your bulbs up!"
I say this. If they want to make Firefox more popular than IE, then they need to go back to the basics. Unbloat the client, make it run faster than it does, put all the bells and whistles back into plugins, and get rid of that God forsaken memory leak.
You know, like things were back in the days before 1.0, i.e. the version that made me switch from Opera.
And I just switched back to Opera. Really should find those old reg codes, even if they're no longer really necessary.
While the container is not itself indestructible (it is, after all, a cardboard box), FedEx has a laptop kit - this is a 20"x20"x7" box with an insert that, when assembled and placed correctly, effectively shockproofs your computer for drops up to one yard. One of these costs US$10. I don't know if you can get them UK side.
Ten years ago I predicted the complete failure of Microsoft within three years thanks to Linux. Microsoft, thanks to Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, ME (yes, I know), NT, etc., is not only still alive, but kicking some serious ass money wise.
To give you an idea of what you're up against with MSFT, you're looking at a company whose founder - Bill Gates - is worth so much money, he cannot spend all of the interest he makes from it in one day - in fact, I would have to guess that he could sustain the company for a couple of years on that interest alone before having to dip into his own fortune. Apple is more likely to tank than Microsoft, but not much more - they have an income and a killer product.
Point being is that it's not ideology that runs the market, it's money and marketing. If it were ideology, Stallman and the FSF could conceivably be the Evil Empire.
So what?
As a result of this, there are more Linux distributions than there are ways to leave your lover - almost all of which can be had for the download - and that's just the tip of the iceberg. So this is really a non issue.
You do understand that the court system here in the USA moves slower than a snail's pace, right? I really don't think that, in 24 hours, we're going to get much of an update above and beyond a summary of discussion on the previous article that somebody found interesting, and likewise, a mod found interesting. Besides, I don't think a case has been filed to begin with. (Maybe someone can enlighten me with this last point?)
They've apparently discovered one of the processes stemming from the ultimate make. I mean, here's God doing 'make -j$infinity' on a human genome source tree, and 31 days into the actual build, this happens. Interesting. I think.
I think that the only thing that would be a problem for open source is if you insisted on sending, say, a Debian CD via FedEx to Myanmar - one of about eighteen locations that FedEx just doesn't go. Otherwise, it's the 'net that keeps it all together.
Not really. The system is intelligent enough to check the headers and verify the hostnames aren't bogus when checked against the IP addresses - and if one's SMTP server is correctly set up, then it will still get the hails from the client SMTP system.

When they looked outside, they got to an Indian call center that doesn't meet the userbase's needs. QED, they need to look inside.

This guy seems to have about as much credibility as Newsmax.
If they censor the internet in the UK, then all these videos of kids doing this won't be available as evidence of their misdeeds, now, will they?
What bothers me is that the article in SMH doesn't indicate whether this effect is permanent.
Erm... that goes to SCOR, not SCOX. Wrong SCO.

I see where this is going. HP will create their own flavor of Debian - which, because it'll stop being Debian, the Deb community won't support either.

Would it be possible for him, then, to request an override to a plaintiff's motion to dismiss?
I'd be more likely to count on Etch coming out as projected +/- 1 month than Vista. But that's just me.

I concur. It's like saying Gnome or KDE are operating systems.
How about finding a mouse where you control the pointer with one hand, and put the buttons elsewhere, on the unaffected hand?
I would mod you up had I the mod points.
But they're already nuts. That's why they're conspiracy theorists.

OK, what dork put a Geocities URL in a Slashdot article?!
There already is a successor. You know that Linux thing that everybody's been talking about? I hear that's a pretty good operating system.
