few reasons:
1) I have been using DocBook for few years. So I know it pretty well. However to newbies, DocBook can be overwhelming (I have been there). I know there is also Simplified DocBook, but no good WYSIWYG editors for it either.
2) OpenOffice doesn't have very good support for DocBook. Setting up OpenOffice to support DocBook can be very tricky.
3) Not many good WYSIWYG editors support DocBook DTD. And if they do, it is not that easy to setup.
What I am looking for is a "Open Standard" DTD can be used to create simple documentation, and is well suited for IT related stuff.
Intellectual Property Laws bad for business

seems like the weblog entry and the webpage used a lot of buzzwords (e.g. "upstream", monolithic, top-down etc), however it did not explain how it will achieve this objective, or how it differs from other distro that offer custom installs.
last year somebody died of excessing gaming (maybe one of those Interactive Fiction games), trying to go through this NINE-part article made me wanna kill myself.;)
I have always looked for a WebDAV client for PDAs. Never found any. With such a wide ranges of PDAs and applications for them, one would think atleast one PDA would support WebDAV.
If MS is forced to exclude media player from windows, what is stopping them to put it up on the windowsupdate.com. So the next time a unknowing user goes to windowsupdate to get patches, he/she might get (automatically) Media Player as well. After all MS can term the Media Player a update (eventhough it is not).
RSA promises that this new technology will not interfere with the normal operation of RFID systems or allow hackers to use security technology to bypass theft-control systems.
I think this kind of technology is asking to be abused. Just like the cell fone signal jammers.
Wider available of the SSL based VPNs including a OpenSource implementation might be the cause.
