  1. Sega's music=best on Is Music More Lasting Than Graphics In Games? · · Score: 1

Sega's music and sound design for it's Arcade Games was some of the best ever made. Out Run, Space Harrier, Afterburner are just a few that had awesome music.

  2. What's next for Apple? on Will Intel Ship an x86-64bit Chip This Year? · · Score: -1, Troll

I wonder what apple will do to counter Intel when they put their 64bit chip on the market? Apple's claim as "The world's fastest computer" have already been put under the knife with P4s beating the G5. Not knocking Apple at all, just curious. All in all, who cares? Until Half Life 2 or Quake 4 Optimized for 64bits comes out what use is a 64bit processor unless you play games, do computer graphics or insanely large spreadsheets or databases?

Whomever wrote that OnStar is considered Harmful is a retard. The title itself implies that OnStar causes some sort of damage/harm to it's users, when that could be the farthest thing from the truth. When I bought my car, the dealer made a great selling point on how they can quickly recover stolen vehicles with OnStar and that if I ever got in an accident, OnStar would automatically come on asking me if I needed help. Sure, hackers, FBI, et al, can hack into the system, but the odds of that happening are very, very low.

  5. Bullshite! on Message in a Battle · · Score: 4, Interesting

"Return of the King would not have been much of a movie without the battles." Bullshit! The amount of artistry put into all three movies has not been seen since the days of "Cleopatra." I am no blind Tolkien freak either. All three movies were beautiful all around. In terms of cost, ROTK cost only $95 million. Contrast that with the recently released "chick flick," "Mona Lisa Smile," what cost $65 million to make and "The Last Samurai" who's costs totalled almost $140 million dollars. The Last Samurai's battle scenes were rather bland and extremely pale in comparison to ROTK. ROTK was just more than the battles, it had a lot of shit going on everywhere in middle earth. I am amazed that Peter Jackson and Co. completed the movie in less than a year, no other Hollywood director or studio could have made ROTK better than WETA and Peter Jackson. Saying ROTK would have sucked without the battles, is like saying Jedi would have sucked without any space battles. Stupid thing to say.

The first Matrix felt real and looked real and also had a different tone. The sequels looked and felt like cartoons and the movie "played" like a video game.

Mostly all american sci-fi totally blows and it appears that very few people today are lax to admit that. In regards to this new "reeeeeinvisionninining" of BSG: How would cylons create perfect FEMALE "human" cylons complete with overcharged sex drive, especially since there had been no contact with the cylons for FOURTY YEARS. What would they use as a basis to create this perfect female fem-bot. Acutal FUCKING on a Sci-fi show. Not playing around fucking, actual fucking. I sure hope parents did not let their kids stay up for BSG. "Real" or "Reel" world physics. O.K. either you have Star Wars "BOOOOM" sound and gigantic explosions or you have NONE If you are going totally realistic. It seems that the idiots who did the sound thought that if they tuned down the sound effects to be almost non-existent, that some uber-nerds would go "WOW, it's like Kubrick 2001 all over again! What geniuses these guys are!!!!" Unfortunately, it makes the space battles quite boring IMHO. Actually, I could go on and on, but it's just wasting time. Peter Jackson took on something that has never been done before and did a job better than anyone else could have done to bring LOTR to the big screen. Also, what happens if Jack Nicholson throws away his copy of "Brown Bunny" and someone goes through his trash and steals it and then uploads it to the internet and starts selling bootlegs on ebay? Is the MPAA going to go after Jack Nicholson for aiding piracy? This screener ban will eventually be recalled, but hopefully NOT till next year. Why? All of the lame-o indie movies won't have a chance to knock Lord of the Rings from getting it's well deserved Oscars. Face it, this year has been pretty slim in the "Oscar Worthy" movie department. Sure, lots of good performances, but nothing really great. LOTR has to win for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (Ian Mckellan). Jack Valenti needs to retire. He has made nothing but bad calls over the entire tenure of his dictatorship (remember he said that the vcr would ruin the movie industry and actually tried to outlaw it!).

  16. Some Sanity FINALLY! on Fox Considering a Return of "Family Guy" · · Score: 0, Troll

I hated Family Guy when it first came out. I thought it was a Simpsons rip off, which is the farthest thing from the truth. Family Guy is one of the best written shows EVER. The only thing that comes close is the first 6 seasons of the Simpsons. People who hate Family Guy need to watch ALL of the episodes. Family Guy's humor takes a while to get used to, but once you do, there is no going back. Futurama fans are going to be pist off if FG returns, but too bad. Family Guy should have not been cancelled in the first place. If it returns, it will be the first show to return after two cancellations. Family guy was hobbled by poor scheduling (it was up against fucking friends and Survivor!) If it returns, it needs to be put on AFTER the simpsons. After one season it will become painfully apparent who is the (now) better show and may finally lay the simpsons down to it's well deserved eternal slumber.

Lest we forget that China is a communist country and they can pretty much do whatever they want UN/WTO be dammned! :) Lastly, what Chinese person is going to pony up almost $300 for a new system that cannot even play their beloved vcds? Funny thing is, I think that Half Life 2 will be a major selling point for the next gen game systems. No current game system can produce graphics as good as HL2 (or Doom3). Not saying that these titles will even be availble for the next gen systems, but they do both show how aged the current technology is. Take for instance Max Payne 2. Fucking Amazing looking game, the difference between MP1 and MP2 is striking and it even isn't a true "next gen" title. It will take a lot to dislodge people from their current PS2s as the graphics are good enough. From the specs of the Ps3 I am certain it will be enough to make the PS2 look woefully inferior. Lastly, the price won't matter either. People paid $299 for the PS2 when it came out and will pay $299 when the PS3 comes out. An alliance between M$ and Nintendo would really make a lot of sense for both companies as I am sure both of them realize that there can be only two systems in the end.

  21. Lemonade without the Lemons! on Nintendo To Launch New Machine Next Year? · · Score: -1, Troll

Releasing a new game system would be a smart and bold move for Nintendo, but what about the games? If this new system even "just" offers quality comparable to today's ATI videocards (which it would have to have if it were to go into production for next year), why bother? Nintendo just needs to swallow their pride and just start making games for all of the systems. Sega did it and is no longer fighting bankruptcy. Let some other sucker pony up the money for builing the home systems. Technology is getting to the point where it has actually overtaken the ancient NTSC television. I play my Xbox in 480p "HD" mode on my HDTV for the few games that support it and it's fucking great! It pains to play in the lower "t.v." resolution. Since most people have regular "crappy" t.v.s it really does not make any sense to upgrade to a more powerful game system unless the games are there. Nintendo's strong arm tactics are finally nipping (no racist pun intended) it in it's ass. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE the gamecube and I have had a lot of fun with it, but it has what, a smattering of games at best? All in all, I doubt anyone will be able to stop Sony at this point. Sony has spent Billion(s) of Dollars on R and D for the PS3 and whereas Micro$oft could actually outspend Sony on R and D, you know they won't, or if they do, they will create something less than inspired, like the Xbox. Once again, I like my Xbox, but really, it's just an 800mhz p.c. with an aging Geforce card in it. Sigh....

Arcade Games, including pinball machines could benefit from this system (albeit a cheaper version). Oh, and fuck Bose, fuck their tiny little speaker, fuck them in their stupid asses! :)

  24. 30 year old gamer loves old and new on Hardcore Gamers - Living In The Past? · · Score: 2

I have been gaming since I was one (no shit). I have seen the rise and fall of the arcades and have owned every game system out there. Here is my view on this (stupid) article. Everyone my age plays both new and classic games. I personally think that there will be no equivalent to playing games in the arcades in the 80's. That was THE Golden age. It was also a different time. Eveyone views their own childhood age as "Golden," but the "Generation X" had the best of ANY age. We saw the invention of the vcr, cable tv, tapes, cds, microwaves, computers and most importantly, Star Wars and Video Games. :) Being a kid and playing Space Invaders after watching Star Wars (re-release in theaters) in 1978 was like taking crack, coke, meth and heroin together, no other high has ever topped that! However, all GenXers must admit that whereas the videogames of the 70's and 80's were fun, and stimulated the imagination, genexers always yearned for better graphics and that ultimate "movie-like" experience, which is what we have today. Yah, I loved playing Targ, Tron, Mappy, Blueprint, Qbert, Dragon's Lair, Food Fight, et al, but I always wanted my games to be as realistic as possible. So contrary to what the article says, I have already bought a new system JUST to play HL2. Sure, I play MAME a lot, but really, HL2 is where, at 30 years old, I want to be. :)
