I took the liberty to translate some of your sentences.

People spend a long time on the roads commuting. SUV's are high off the ground and comfortable. This is important, many people spend more time in their SUV's than they do with their families.

Some people should get a divorce.

SUV's are also particularly comfortable if you're overweight.

So fat people can fit their fat asses in the car.

The engines are good for acceleration, low and high end. It makes up in part for the automatic transmission.

    Some people cant drive.

You need the automatic transmission so that you can eat your breakfast or speak on the cell phone while in traffic. It's also less frustrating in a traffic jam. You need the acceleration to be able to cut people off on the roads, and the height lets you see over sedans.

So the fat people can get fatter.

Finally, relatively speaking, gas is cheap in the U.S.

Our president has bombed enough arab states for the oil to be cheap, relatively speaking to the number of dead arabs.

'scuse me, how did the iPod do anything to harm a VIDEO-format? All the iPod did was to inflate the price fo the standard mp3-player. And get alot of people robbed off the iPod becuase their unique design.

Apple legitimize? You're talking about the company that tried to force all their customers into using a single button mouse. You'll be kept waiting for a long time d00d. :)

Ofcourse, but fitting a index for 1 million rows in any servers main index is a no brainer. I know perfectly well (thank you) that my entire index and data fits into the ram. That how my system is designed.

The GP complains about 1 million rows, I dont see how that a index of that row cannot fit RAM.

  13. Re:propaganda on MySQL Moves to Prime Time · · Score: 2, Insightful
Anyway you're right. MySQL actually doesn't do very good if a table has a million entries. It may seem fast at first, but try to do a select on a table with a million entries, joined with itself three times, and do a group by command. It's gonna take a while to finish. Granted, it's minutes instead of the
usual seconds, but I would tend to think that commercial databases would do better than that.

I do exactly this on a database that is around 400 mb large (without the indexes). There are no "minutes", theres seconds. Time to upgrade that 400mhz.. I run around ~6 of those queries / seconds on a Opteron 248 atm. And it's at ~25% load at peak.

You need to place those ads somewhere, it's hard designing with both content and ads in mind. Much easier to make a template for 1000 words with the appropriate banner-sized ads.

We're talking about averages here, not min or max.

    Two reasons;

    1) Templates. A template for a large article wouldn't be usable for shorter (1-page) articles.
    2) Pageviews. Equals money in pocket.
