Sci-Fi channel is or was run by a woman who looks like she exclusively shops at Chanel / Dolce Gabbana. I think she has more knowledge of a Martini than good Sci-Fi as shown by their terrible programming. Irony is she was recently promoted. I pine for the day to be able to suck that badly and get paid more for it.
Seriously, where is the FBI and DOJ. Why has nobody been charged for these outright criminal acts? Where are the press releases by our government about how they are going to prosecute this?
So some guy who builds a popular open source software program move on the bigger and better and the project dies? Nope. If it is a popular project anyone can pick up where the last developer left off. What happens if a closed source company with a popular product goes out of business? Or what if the company just decides there is no money in the program they develop, but it is mission critical for you? They do not always make a transition or make the source open so where would people be who depend on these?
Actually, they should have both console and PC in the same multi player. Then after all the PC guys have fragged the crap out of the console people, and the console people catch on, they will switch to PC gaming and the free market would win.
There is a hint that the FBI was contacted, but WTF. This is outright criminal behavior by Media Defender. Why is this not getting some real high level attention and a press report from the FBI? We got constant press reports for that stupid run away bride, does Media Defender have to attack a hospital or fire station and kill off a few people for this to become important?
I never understand this line of reasoning. Gibbons is setting the bar pretty high for fans, but I do not think it is that high. For example, I Am Legend. If you take the thing that made it such a great story and then completely remove it from the book, wtf? And Constantine, an occult detective from all religions, which seems like a writers dream, but they pigeon holed him into just Catholicism and gimic it out with things like a stupid holy shot gun, wtf.
It would seem like when the movies are fairly faithful to the original story they get rewarded and the follow on sales long after the movie has been out more than make up for any short term gain. LOTR is not perfect, but a pretty faithful adaptation that continues to make boatloads of money. Spiderman II same thing. It almost pains me that they go to all the trouble to get these great stories and then mess them up. Really they should just write the crap stories from scratch so no one cares they butchered it and then there are also no royalties. From the outside looking in it would be much more profitable long term for them to stay true to the material.
I have always thought of computer languages as tools in the toolbox. After understanding the problem and coming up with a plan, the computer language I pick tends to be the best tool to do the job and require the least amount of effort to develop it. Need CAD speed? Use ANSI C. Need text processing? Use perl.
Why can't they fork this? Develop one operating system that boots in 5 seconds and supports all of the drivers needed effortlessly and supports useful things like copying a Gigabyte worth of files on a network without crippling the system in CPU/bandwidth (or give an error message like Linux does that it cannot do it). And then develop this second eye candy crapola operating system that has these features for all of the 10 people that want it.
I doubt Clinton knows anything or she would be winning. I have shifted from frustration with Clinton to amusement. All that is left for Clinton is humiliating and embarrassing jokes that will live a lot longer than those for McGovern. In fact, if you have one post it.
I think you are over estimating the contribution of a corp to a project (do you love EA?). Almost all successful software projects I have seen or been a part of had one bad ass build most of it and then a ton of other people debug and add on. Without the rock star programmer the project never did well. One rock star programmer is worth 100 mediocre ones.
Completely agree. Voice actors are a dime a dozen, but I am surprised there are not more rock star Programmers gaining fame like Carmack. The Programmers are the ones that make the entertainment in this medium and they should get their due and accolades.
I have to agree with Kent. I love linux as much as the next guy, but this analysis borders on fanboy. When you actually use linux you get results all over the map.
Think about what it would be like if the command "ls" was named something different in every linux distribution. Part of Microsoft's success is that there are GUI contracts that are very rarely broken so you almost always know how to do basic tasks with a new program.
Anyone else read this and think there should be a one strike and your out of the government policy? You sell out your constituents in some provable way and you get kicked from your government seat.
Please send me all of your important info including passport, etc so that I might make sure that you are safe and nothing bad happens. I promise not to abuse it.
If they cap it, they should just charge by the gigabyte like the phone company does. They are going to be measuring it anyway so might as well make it cheaper for their Customers. That is who they are trying to help with this right?
The more code you build on code, it will come to a point where you will not get any results because of all of the underlying bugs. Cannot remember which book that is from, but it seems like it fits this pretty good.

Tipper Gore and Jack Thompson

How about they just charge 20 cents and you own it (with no strings) instead.

Crack for TPM released in 3, 2, 1 ....

That LeBeouf guy gives me the creeps.

That Indiana Jones 4 might be terrible or the constant discussion that the Phantom Menace is fantastic cinema.

Go diskless and boot over the network. That is what I did for my myth frontend and it works great.
If those people do these things then pass Gas. If people need a real reason to worry about, give them one.
The more I hear about Vista the less I want it. In fact, I think I will just skip it all together.
