And you have to get a new xbox every 2 or 3 years. PC's have more than one function and I am still using one of my old PC's from 10+ years ago. You don't want to build it, buy it from Dell or an integrator. To be honest, I don't think I will every buy a console. Don't like the experience, don't like getting screwed with all the DRM and other crap on them.
I have always thought of programming languages as more of a wrench in your tool box. If you need high horsepower I use ANSI C. If I am doing text processing, I use Perl. I think a good question would also be, what do you need to do and what languages would let you do that? That is a pretty practical view that you actually need to build something you need though.
Actually, I think it is a bit different. If you make a lawsuit you will have to pony up the tax and continue to pay it each year if you think you will ever need to file a new lawsuit. Nice clean un-avoidable rule and prevents frivolous lawsuits.
Even if it is a nickel, it would solve so many problems. If it is worth so much to protect then there should be no problem in paying tax to cover for the mess it makes.
This very thoughtful analysis misses one important inescapable fact. Clinton at most will get one more delegate from Texas. If they were competing for the popular vote both candidates would be running their campaigns differently. This one fact is a disaster for Clinton.
The more that they try to control every aspect of using the device pushes me farther away from consoles. If they stop developing for the PC I will just not play those games.
Technology is a big difference between Barack and Clinton. Clinton wants to criminalize video games and I expect use technology to increase powerbase with surveillance, etc (fear mongering, think of the children). Barack wants to make government transparent with technology like setting up websites to let everyone know what is going on. There are a number of other differences to, but for Geeks this seems like the most interesting.
Ruby on Rails? Maybe if you are designing a lot of little cookie cutter mom and pop sites, but for big ones that need to process data that seems like a very bad choice. I can see some what of the PHP argument, but perl works fine for the web.
Telling us how great a third arm would be, but it will have all kinds of unpleasant side effects that may happen to a small number of people. Good thing we are all capable of making decisions about big pharma commercials like an informed doctor. sarcasm off.
Maybe this was a joke, but with the idiocy legislation of the pro-family (no responsibility of the parents) groups I would like to sign on to this "bill". Where do I sign up!
Tried that. Apparently, we are going to both die in some kind of tragic romantic way. Not sure how that works when you are bleeding from all orifices. May go back to the one of us needs to some how solder on... meh, chicks.
On a system that is clearly flawed and does not do what it is intended. I would advocate for a full refund to the state of Maryland for breach of contract.
All of my perl scripts still work. I build a bunch of vba crap and then they broke with new office versions so I built the same functionality with perl (Excel::spreadsheets) and you know what, they still work. Yea for perl!
I will always have a high paying job now as I will be less than the licenses and training needed for whatever unusable microsoft replacement there is. To bad all the projects will be 20 lines of perl code, but at least I will be rich. Muhahahaha.
It is just a way for governments to easily manipulate people (everyone wants to win a war and will more easily give up their freedoms to do so). Terrorism is a complex social problem that has been around since the dawn of man and has no easy answers. Stop using the term "war on terror"
Fatty restaurant responsibility - McDonald's directly markets to children. Most others do not. I would give them a free pass if they would end that single practice.
Actually, if you are in a situation like mine and take the 20 2k line block of code that are sprinkled all over the place and tweaked into one refactored lib that all these apps can use, your work load goes down considerably. Refactoring is a very good idea when you have maint problems.
We did a cost analysis one day at work (yes we are geeks) and even with the high cost of a laser printer, the cost per copy beat ink jet printers within a couple hundred copies. I have a laser printer and it has been telling me to change the toner for a year, but still prints fine. The toner lasts forever and I will never go back to ink jet. In my opinion, ink jet printers are just a waste of money and the quality is not even as good as a laser printer.
Nothing says goodbye like a tax.

Call him a terrorist and you can get Mass invaded.

Maybe it will help my wife from saying she has ebola all the time when she gets the flu

Funny, this from an anon coward. Way to stand up and be counted.
Anyone care to let the rest of us know if this is good or bad for us pee-ons? I like to cheer with the crowd.

In perl, you could do it in one line with a haiku poem.
Whoa...
