a question about this though. why / what exactly are the positives to having to unmount devices (perhaps it's just not the best way for a flashdrive?) ?
i mean, i hate to bring up windows (and i don't really miss this tiny 'functionality') but i could just yank out the drive and it'll be fine.
what has to happen and why, in linux that it can't just write the data to the drive? is it because it's all in the RAM cache? i wonder if you could change that behavior for certain devices...
back to wired we go? are you serious? do you think they're going to tax the devices so much that all of a sudden you'll change you're network plan just to re-tether yourself? it's not like wired/less networks are feature neutral interchangeable. i appreciate the added benefits of having no damned wires, so i pay much more for the equipment than i would for cat5 stuff. if i have to pay a little more, heck even a goodly amount more, i will (and i bet most people too) realize that if the feature is needed/wanted enough, you deal with it. it's not going to set back wireless networking markets devastatingly or anything.
besides, this is japan. do you think their tech consumers are going to balk at a TAX and just mutter and make do with being tethered instead of not?
oh no! it costs 15% more for wireless! i guess i'll jut go back to TEH SUCK! intead of paying a little more in one time costs!!! sob!
lindows wasn't shut down, they accepted a pay off to drop a lawsuit that would have very likely ended up with microsoft losing their trademark made from a generic term, "windows".
aren't they normal lithium ion batteries? i would think they would do just fine being run down (not all the way of course, that is damaging) to about 12-15% and then being charged.
i would think all that intuitive circuitry in lion chipsets is designed to eliminate battery shenanigans.
what security? this is mostly for prototyping i would imagine, or the occasional custom part. if you're designing a stealth bomber or some super secret $$$ potential part, have your military or r&d people do it.
but the actual light levels in quakes world (ie on the walls) were pre-rendered. anyone that used to make levels remembers waiting for light to render...it sucked
drugs, like many things can open your mind awesomely. if you have no interest in an open mind and or ideas (intentions?) to make the experience a productive one, it does little good.
many people seem to not be aware of these things though.
i also found that comment a bit snobbish (not trying to offend, but also not sorry in any case) and i have actually lived close to (as in a block or two, traversing required) or in a neighborhood that had definitely seen better days.
but really, who gives a fuck that you've been to a 'real life ghetto'? does that give you more credibility somehow in any respect?
i just happened to find that particular comment hilarious, in a terribly sad/sick sort of way.
god forbid the person you're replying to one up you by having had to circulate amongst poor colored people on a regular basis for some reason.
i remember a few years ago when i lived in north county we had Y107, and for a long time while i guess they were looking fo djs, they didn't have any! it was jut music. ok music, sometimes git ood music, but it was a beautiful change. i think it used to be modern rock Y107 from arcadia, but couldn't compete with kroq, and now it's a spanish station...
you have to customize the hell out of firefox et al just to make it featureful for all intents and purposes. i'm in favor of smaller, lighter browsers but having to download 15 extensions with no way to even aggregate them (that i'm informed of) kind of sucks.
using cdr/dvdr media for archives is trouble anyway, unless you use RW which has a different ink layer composition (metal-ly based if i remember).
it's all been covered here before, recently, ad infinitum...
basically, no difference...
for true archiving, i just rig up a clockwork orange theater setup, knowing that i'll never be able to get whatever i subjected myself to out of my head...
" "One person's experience" does not constitute a habit. I have used Paypal for years -- since its inception -- transferred tens of thousands of dollars with it and never had a serious problem, and only a handful of minor ones (most during the first couple years)."
slashdot hive statistics says: PayPal is only scamming 50% of its users!
why don't ya send me half of it, you can probably get another hour or two of battery life.
Ohhh....uh, yeah. the 'Clicky something crashes' bug...
uh huh, they've fixed that.

well, perhaps i'm being a bit bitchy. i could just set up a long distance custom wifi link from a friends house a mile down that has dsl.
oh...yeah, i mean there's satellite too...
and the Postal Service.
yes, enough said. enough of what though exactly?
i would think all that intuitive circuitry in lion chipsets is designed to eliminate battery shenanigans.
you seem kind of...paranoid

anything but humans! they're the worst for anything ever!
