1. Upside is that this will limit the numbers of cable internet customers and keep the bandwidth more open for those using it.... important since cable connections slow way down during peak hours when everyone is on it.
2. Downside is that cable is only run to places with a large enough potential customer base to make it economical to run all the cable... so if you are out in a rural area, you aint getting the cable connection option. Then again, see #1.
I've been running cable for the last 6 months and I have grown to love it. A lot. Unfortunately I just picked up a house out in the sticks and we are moving in a week... cable is out of the question. For this, I am not pleased. DSL is the only option, and the carrier out here, UBET, is pathetic and corrupt.
Advertisers feel that they have some enherent rights to advertise anything everywhere they want.
Its a wonder that they are not tacking up bulletin boards on the redwoods in california. Every night I have to look at the moon to make sure that someone hasn't scrimshawed a logo onto it.
Untill all the recent internet chatter about it.
So I ordered it off Amazon.com.
BEST
SHOW
EVER
Whoever cancelled Firefly was a huge moron.
Best script writing I've ever seen for a TV show. The dialog is outstanding.
The US Army has working prototypes of actual rail guns... or Guass Rifles if you are familiar with BattleTech.
The Army guns are cranking out tungston penetrators at 22KPS, which is twice as fast as the Rhinmetal 120MM smooth bore used in our M1 Abrams MBTs. Unfortunately there are a great many problems with the guns... such as they tend to destroy themselves after a shot is fired and of course the power situation to charge a second shot. So really it's nothing more than a really really spendy zip gun.
Pretty much I just got a Linspire disk, took a sharpy to it and wrote "MY LINUX" on it. Worked great. Installed everything just fine, found all my device drivers, rebooted and runs great.
If you come out to Rural Utah and come to the little computer store that I serve (don't laugh now) as the Tech Manager... We bundle all the mentioned articles in our builds, including AVG and a full arsenal of Anti-Spyware applications, and Zone Alarm Firewall.
If you bring in your computer for repair, we give you a the same anti-spyware package. Even if you have some already - we uninstall it and reinstall the latest version, make sure its fully updated, scanned, and we don't give it back until I am satisfied that it has been done right.
Small computer shops do not mean slacking computer shops.
We are also looking at selling Linux boxes... with either Kubuntu or Linspire on them. (I know Linspire is a commercial product, but it's probably the slickest and easiest version of Linux out there for people who can barely run windows)
Often times if the customer is a wanting MS Office and is a student or I know they have a hard time with the budget... I give them Open Office for free instead of making a sale.
If you don't believe me, come to my shop and see for yourself.
Here at my shop and at hope we/I use OpenOffice exclusively. Especially with the new 2.0 Beta (1.9 something) we have had absolutely ZERO problems.
We also use Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4 and have had no problems with it at all either. Well, outside of using Sieble which requires IE but thats a different subject.
Some of you are pretty hostile.
Yeah, my box can run D3 at max settings and do pretty well. It can get a little laggy in some stages... never said it didn't. But then again I didn't think this was a pissing contest.
I guess I'll have to get a better card and see for myself. I mostly build business machines, so I don't play many of the new games.
Just thinking about GTA:SA coming out and wondering if I should upgrade for it... but I'm not seeing much reason to. Vice City runs just great....
I'm not sure of the point of this...
I mean, I've got a puncy little FX 5200 and I can already run Doom3 at the highest graphics settings in my system. I'm not kidding. What is a spendy card like this going to give me?
Is there an unlock tool for the 5200?
Another attempt at making a great handheld device... and another miss. But this was a good try. Really is. Wouldn't buy it for 200. Would ebay it if it was given.
I use such devices as a laptop replacement... but this one somehow seems more limited regardless of the nicer display.
Microsoft was seen whistling and acting all too casual while leaving the area.
I for one welcome our creepy Japanse geek overlords. - Going back to play my GTA:SA now.
Because we all know how good the UN is at managing everything else.
When can I get my burned copy of the "Corporate" edition?
It took Ubuntu about 3 months to get my CD's out... but they arrived. All 25 of them.
I love Ubuntu. Favorite Gnome desktop distro.
What is this "Analog" people keep talking about? Is it a wireless protocol? How much is it a month?
Get it to run on D@mn Sm@ll L!nux?

That this isn't so much a Ford vs Chevy arguement... but more like Chevy vs GM. Oh, and... "Theo is teh ghey! L12nux r00lzzzzzz!!!"
I'd just put SUSE Linux on the box anyways. Or Linspire. Either one. OS-X is nice, but very much overhyped.

That gives users a Windows ME look and feel. That's spiffy.
How can it be a violation if it is an optional service offered to those who want it?

My Logitech MX-1000 laser mouse disagrees.

I thought that was EVE ONLINE....
Can it find Sarah Connor?

This cat thinks we should make submarines out of glass? WTF?
