I mean, why don't they listen to the USA. Our position is that since the earth is only 3000 years old, there isn't enough long term data to determine if climage change is even being caused by humans. Not only that, why would God let the planet get too hot? It just doesn't make any sense.
News flash, there is no nuetrality now. They don't need permission to use features already built into routers to prioritize traffic, and they do so already.
The Ron Paul Revolution is coming? Actually, there was like 200 people camping out in front of CBS studios last night with Ron Paul signs. Personally, I think he not only won both republican debates so far, I think he made it obvious that Giuliani is way out of his league here.
"Microsoft has spent time and money accumulating patents. Maybe it has started using that armory to move corporate customers to open-source software that Microsoft approves of."
Should read:
"Microsoft spent time and money accumulating Linux distributions, installing them, and stealing their ideas to accumulate patents. Now it wants to pick up where SCO left off and continue to spread FUD about linux."
Open source is already deeply embedded in enterprise roles at just about every major technology savy company in the world. I've often wondered what its like to work at a company like Microsoft for example, and be required to only use Windows. I'm not sure how sys admins would get anything done.
For example, out of the box (clean install), how would windows give me a list of all directories spread out through multiple volumes that haven't been accessed in 7 days, and oh yeah, there is 100TB of info. Point and click? That stuff is easy with linux. What is even easier would be to split the work up by volume and rsh the command to different machines, so you could utilize idle processors on the network. Can you rsh commands to different windows boxes?
What about rshing/sshing a machine, lauching a program and having the gui show up on your machine, without any additional software? Xwindows does this automatically. I actually run eclipse on a spare workstation nobody is even logged into.
There is no awk, no grep, no decent cron server, a shell that can do anything useful. I don't know anything abotu Windows so I don't know. Maybe someone who has at least 1000+ windows machines and at least 2 or 3 netapp filers can comment. I have a feeling it requires a lot more proprietary software, even more vendor lockin.
Windows doesn't even do that my friend. Whenever I install windows, I have to install video drivers, monitor drivers, sound card drivers, network card drivers, etc. I don't have a lame webcam but if I did, I would expect to have to isntall those drivers too. So, what does Windows skate by on this and you expect Linux to just magically "auto=detect" everything for you? You have to go and install drivers, and with linux, you might have to do the same thing.
Microsoft is at a crossroads here. Truthfully I think its best for them to look the other way compete with us. After all, the have already admitted the patents are easily worked around or invalidated. Up until now, FOSS hasn't really fought Microsoft, rather just looked at them as a competitor. Now, Linux is crushing them in the enterprise sector. I mean, out of the box, Windows cannot do 0.001% of what Linux can do. That is their problem, not ours.
Its actually interestingly funny how torn Microsoft is over this. The entire press release is not coherent at all, but written in a way where you know many people with many views were able to put in their 2 cents. Ballmer probably wants to go around throwing chairs and suing people. The lawyers, they want money. Marketing is on the floor in the fetal position like they usually are when Ballmer is angry, and the technology side has wanted to more like Linux and at least adopt OSS ideals for years now. Those people who have gotten sick of this shit have already left for Google, Yahoo, or IBM.
Thanks to the SCO debacle, which we can thank Microsoft for bank rollling, the OSS community is prepared.I mean, these guys are just really bumbling over themselves, its hilarious. FOSS has an emperor now, named IBM. "Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!"
Using this technology, we'll be able to detect and weed out people who disagree with the current adminstration. That way, the US will be restored to its former glory.
I'm not sure how idiots can even speculate about what the earth will be like in 2050. Obviously, the point about saving 40,000 germans is stupidity. I mean, by 2050, I hope nobody is dying from the flu, let alone cold people. Computer simulations can't consistently predict the weather the next day, let alone 40 years from now.
The Linux Development community needs representative decision making, there are too many voters, hence, almost no direction or real progress towards a cohesive goal. Nothing will change without true leadership, and sadly, accountability.
god, please, no. If I want shitty develeopment decisions to be made for me, I go to work for that.
It only puts you in charge if you have root. In a corporate environment its not like random people are installing software anyway, at least they shouldn't be. They should be doing their jobs and using whatever IT has given them.
The company I work for has over 1000 linux desktops deployed. Windows is pretty much only used by upper management.
That thing that just flew over your head, that was the entire point of open source and the GPL, you just missed it.
We want 100 different solutions to every problem, not forever mind you, but all the code is GPL and belongs to the community. Say out of those 100 different solutions, 5 projects have awesome code and the rest are not great, incomplete, etc. Its a win win either way. First the other 95 people learned something, and at some point, the things they write wont' be crap, plus they gave back to the community. They might some areas of there code that can be assimilated into other projects later on. Out of the 5 good code bases, only 1 or 2 will generally prevail.
This is why MS can't stop open source. They can't pay 100 people to solve the same problem then thousands of beta testers decide which is best.
To patent software, it doesn't have to be new, inventive, or even your idea. Thats not the point of a software patent. You just pay a guy to submit anything you tell him to submit, and pay the patent office for the patent. They don't won't even put your idea into google. As long as its not too similar to something in their database, or doesn't violate some law of physics, you are usually good. Its a huge revenue stream for the US. Its the USTPO's opinion that the courts should handle the garbage they let though, and unfortunatly, that translates to the american people subsidizing the patent office by supporting the infrastructure to litigate these patents.
Jeez can they make it anymore obvious?
I don't know, phishing attempts seem pretty damn obvious to me.

Youtube man, there is tons and tons of ron paul coverage there. He is like god of youtube right now.

It has no immediate plans to sue because it has no immediate plans to get its ass kicked in court.

In the USA you get less jail time for phyiscally beating someone and taking their copyrighted material than publishing copyrighted material.

How clueless do you have to be to put in a CD, then hit the next button 20 times? A monkey could install most Linux distros these days.

deez nutz.
They command the legions of really bad and useless "Microsfot Certified System Engineers". Even a bad UNIX admin puts those fools to shame.

If you want to get anywhere in the industry doing modeling, you need Maya. Don't waste time with anything else.

Balmer just throws chairs at you during the presentation. If you can't dodge them, then your fired. Its that simple.

Google falls down holding its knee, his face looks like he is in agony. No wait, now hes up again 2 seconds later running at full speed.
