Did you know that the military has finally completed the takeover of the Civil Air Patrol? They are equipping Cessnas with the exact same sensors as are on the airborne robots! They may be operating from YOUR local airport! See for yourself!
There can be only one reason for this. What are they trying to "hide"?!?
[Scary quotes and hyperbole to increase page views]
At least one marker is totally incorrect. Syracuse NY, Hancock Field, 174th Fighter Wing (ANG) shows its status as "Future". As of March 2010, they sent the last of their F-16's out and fully transitioned to MQ-9 Reapers.
I am all for private data staying private, but when I am out in public, it is, get this: public information.
I have a 6' fence around my backyard. My neighbors cannot see in, and I cannot see out Stand in the street, take a picture of the front and side of my house, and you see fence. Now elevate your viewpoint to 10 feet. You can see much more.
If I stood in front of your house taking pics with a camera on a 10 foot monopod, you'd rightfully wonder WTF. But Google, with their 10 foot tall cameras, somehow gets a pass.
Maybe I am looking for another excuse to wear my tinfoil hat, but what happens if in order to get attention companies like NASA start simply releasing artistic impression as real ones?
Because NASA can't fake it. You could have seen the same in your backyard (clouds permitting) with $10 in parts.
Someone has to be at the bottom in each school. But the "bottom 2%" can't be by individual school, IMHO. You'd be getting rid of some good teachers. I'm sure that in some districts, the 'bottom 2%' in any particular school would be in the 'top 25%' of teachers in another school in the same district.
I have one, and it's pretty good. Ad hoc directly to the laptop when you get back to the hotel, sync to Eye-fi, Flikr or wherever when you have a reliable connection. For 3rd level redundancy, copy every other day to a SD card and mail home.
They broadcast their idiocy with such gems as "WHITEPOWER" and "KILLNIGGERS". So technology is making it easier to identify the assholes in society. For a while, I powered up a spare AP connected to nothing, and broadcast "OURNEIGHBORSAREIDIOTS".
We never had any uprisings back then....why would we have them now? Back in the day...no one owed you anything, not even the government, and we got along just fine. Most people, took this as incentive to work their asses off to survive...and even to succeed. Why should it be any different now?
We have this now because it helps me as a legislator/lobbyist/chairman(*) gain power, increase my sphere of influence and increase my budget. If I helped 5,000 people this year, then helping 10,000 next year is better (for me). If those extra 5,000 do not exist, then we'll just change the goalposts so that they do exist. Keep enough people on the gravy train long enough (and create more) and eventually they will come to depend on that gravy train, and woe to him who might knock it off the tracks.

Maybe if you are roasting a whole turkey but you probably aren't doing that on the grill anyway.
I do a beer can turkey at least once or twice a year. ~4 hrs, indirect heat, no flareups, good grill. Start checking temps after a 2 hours or so. No reason to stand there watching it.
Beer can chicken (~2.5 hrs) at least once a month. Again, no reason to sit there watching it.
Flip on a light switch? I can buy energy efficient light bulbs that use a fraction of the electricity and last for decades.
Electricity? I can install solar panels, or even buy more energy efficient appliances and electric monitors to lessen electric use.
Yes, those 'help', but the hardware comes out of the same factories, with the same ethics, as most other electronics. So the problem is reduced, but not eliminated.
It's not all in one box. Whatever it is has to fit through the hatch. Inventory, move (inertia!), stow. Now do it in the other direction for the stuff that needs to come back to earth.
They abandoned that stuff out there on a rock in space. They have no intention of doing anything further with it and have no authority over it. How is it not salvage to pick up some leftovers?
Obviously there is little if anything they can do to prevent it. But the words "gently", "should be", "historic sites", and "guidelines - none of which are particularly enforceable" are there for a reason. As in "This is the first evidence on humans landing on another celestial body. Please don't fuck it up. If you do, A lot of the rest of humanity will think you are a dick."
It's all ass-backwards! The artists should be paying someone to market/produce their music, not wait for some tiny percentage cut of their sales to come back to them.
New artists can't do that, because they don't have the funds upfront. The old school recording industry was not only music discovery and production but also the finance arm/bank. It would be no different if a new act went to a regular bank, and convinced them to loan $1,000,000 (which wouldn't happen anyway) for 'production costs and marketing'. All but 'some tiny percentage' would go directly back to the bank to pay off the loan. The 'recording industry' just inserted themselves in as the bank. And profited heavily off of that function.

First world are the superpowers, Second World are their allies and Third World are the unaligned nations.
Wrong, only if we use Chairman Mao's definition. Pretty sure we're not going there. From your link: "The Western theory said that the First World was the United States and its allies, the Second World was the Soviet Union and its allies, and the Third World was the neutral and nonaligned countries."
Just FYI, Russia is by definition part of of the First World.
By the original, Cold War definition, Russia/USSR was 2nd world. 1st World was US/NATO/allies. 2nd World was USSR/Warsaw Pact nations. 3rd World nations were everyone else.
This has now devolved into 1st world/3rd world, mainly based on economy.
It works, you just have to be mindful of what you put in it.
Stereos? Rebar? I guess people will be idiots.

Which is why they do it with NATO troops [wordpress.com] instead.
Training exercise.

Wonder what else here is incorrect.

and anyone could come along and photograph the prison from the same place and post it on Flickr.
Anyone who routinely uses a camera at the top of a 3 meter pole.

Why stop now...? Were they unready to embrace Electric Vehicles? "Too" ready...?
Why now? Because they are 74 and 63 years old.
Exactly. Would they except this standard with anything else? 65% of students being literate, for example?
I take it you are in the 35%?

So maybe cut/fire by district instead.
I'm sure if they named them "BLACKPOWER" and "KILLCRACKERS" you wouldn't have bothered making this post.
And you'd be quite wrong, Mr AC.

I'm not seeing the complexity here.
If you're talking about 20 or 30 GB of data per day
If you're doing 20-30GB of pictures per day on vacation...that's not a vacation, that's work.

Thirded on the GrillGrates. I will be using mine in an hour or so. Flareups MUCH reduced.

Not only that, but the USA is the only country not intending to ratify the Kyoto Protocol [wikipedia.org]
Oh please. There are a few others. And Kyoto was so flawed from the start that some countries are actively withdrawing (Canada, Japan, Russia)
