First; Sorry some idiot modded you flamebait because he thought your a kook.
Second; The features you mention are (I think) quite well explained be Dessmond Morris's 'Aquatic Ape' hypothesis. This says that modern humans are descended from a bunch'o'monkeys that were forced out from the trees/savahna of Africa and found a niche in a reef that existed off the east coast of Africa much like the great barrier reef. I'm not sure about the virginity thing, but the others fit well. It also explains our webbed hands/feet, hairlessness, downturned noses, and fasination with bikinis.
I think the strongest argument for this is the fact that newborns can swim.
Your missing the fact that he's going to Melbourne to talk, for free, at someones event. Yes he's a dick, but I don't think you'ld be taking too many 20 hour trips for someone elses benefit.
Tobacco has long been used for genetic fiddling because of the huge amount of work that went into it via the ciggarette companies, and our body of knowlrdge about the tobacco mosaic virus. I don't think there's anything about tobacco that makes it easir to work with, per se.
The strange thing is that Google won for 'Best News'. WTF? It's not their news!! Don't get me wrong, Google deserves all kudos they can get, but 'best news'?
This woman converted 2 years ago. I have the feeling she was anoyingly 'devout' in whatever her religion was before. I wonder where exactly she put her interpertation of Islam together from. As I understand it, most places that insist on veils also don't let women drive.
RFID tags use a circut to generate power that can be fried easily by microwave radiation. I imagine that this would still leave the data on the tag readable.
1) There small, but in most products you should be able to find them easily enough. Other products might be harder.
2) A microwave will fry the power generating circut in these things in an instant.
Yes. Odd to say the least. Why would NV use '3dmark03.exe'? Why would they then use the same mechanisim in a clumsy cheating attempt? Maybe a disgruntled employee is having a joke?
I've done quite a bit of UnrealScript coding, and have been disapointed with the documentation provided. If they had added a 'Most Comprehensive Tutorial' catagory, it could have done a lot to get people making future mods. I think a lot of GPL projects could benifit from this aproach also. If IBM spent 1% of the money they spent on linux on linux docs, it would really help linux spread longterm.
Yes, but it's probably not the best idea to start from the png spec and write your own load function, as you could easily find a tried and true snippet that did this. Displaying an image on screen is a vastly more complicated endeavour, considering portability. You would almost certainly wind up using some kind of API if this was a real app.
Writing an effective virus nowdays doesn't need to require great assembler skills, as the methods of transmission have changed (from boot sector/BIOS to Outlook/Web server). Although some familiarity with assembler would still be very helpful.
Heck, in some enviroments, you could probably write a virus in a scripting language.
This is a really interesting interview, but the interviewer doesn't seem to have his early Apple history down, suggesting that Jobs help build the first Apple, Bah!
Woz always gives an interesting interview, the (read more) links in the story get to the interesting stuff. It's too bad this is linked to something so banal as the 26th aniversary of the Apple, 'cause core/. readers would probably find it informative.
Dear Mr.AC,
Not only have you taken the time to post the contents of a link to/., and posted it as AC(the only proper way), you have taken the time to take this info from a pdf.
You, sir or madam, are among the best/. has to offer.
Posting as me, with my karma bonus, so all the karma whores can get a clue.
Crackheads don't go home and try to boot computers, they sell them as quickly as possible. You can talk any crackhead down to the price of a rock ($10) in 30 seconds. Given that there's a great market on the street for things that look like shiny new computers priced at $10, I'd say there is a market.
We're not talking about open data formats for internet use. The idea behind this bill is to make 'goverment' store all data in open standards so they don't become dependent on corporations.
The problem with doing this is the problem this bill is trying to solve, namely that goverments don't have the rights to the data formats they use, leaving them dependent on the likes of MS, Orcale, etc.
In the troughs made with bur grass, there is sweet beer. I will have the cupbearers, the boys and the brewers stand by. As I spin around the lake of beer, while feeling wonderful, feeling wonderful, while drinking beer, in a blissful mood, while drinking alcohol and feeling exhilarated, with joy in the heart and a contented liver -- my heart is a heart filled with joy! I clothe my contented liver in a garment fit for a queen! The heart of Inana is happy once again; the heart of Inana is happy once again!
If you havn't noticed. microsoft will happilly give you service packs, even with your cracked copy, as long as you have a unique serial number for your install (try Kazza/google for patch). I'm not sure if this is MS thinking 'even pirates should get patched', or 'our security is rock solid h4x0rs!', still..

Well, no, it doesn't trump the GPL, it just means you couldn't use linux for that in the first place.

Just something to be aware of if you're the paranoid type.

Given a MTBF of 500,000 hours, and a failure rate of 95% of units in a year, (~1/60th of MTBF), you got some shitty drives.
After undertaking a comprehensive textual analysis of the provided link, I am able to confirm that, yes, the site is in German.
I really like the bit about the liver.
