  1. yeah, down w/ comdex on COMDEX Opens with Smallest Attendance Ever · · Score: 1

this year's comdex would probably be the new low point in the computer show's history. If the economy starts doing better, with more computer jobs, i'm fully planning to attend again, since comdex will be cool again. (assuming their not bankrupt)

  2. comdex sucked on The Last Comdex? · · Score: 1

not to be a troll, but comdex has steadily declined with the economy over the last few years. I went first in 98, and it was pretty rad. then it peaked w/ y2k, and last year was really shitty (Especially the exclusion of Linux Buisness Expo, and only 1 conference center)

  3. back to the scene on Philips & Sony To Purchase Intertrust DRM Tech · · Score: 1

Does anyone remember the mp3 scene? when groupz would release mp3s with their headers all fucked up? yeah, i remember it before the days of good cd extraction, and it was almost quicker to download it than to rip it, (especially with my 2x cd). Doesn't this mean that cds might go back to the "scene" mentality, where groupz release albums again? I'm interested to hear others' thoughts on this too.

there is a "secure mode" so that no one can use the same frequency... and stuff like this doesnt happen. At lan parties i have to secure it, since my two other friends wanted to be down, so they bought keyboards too.

Acutally, its kind of scary to note that (IAITVI) video news releases (or VNR for short) are mailed in (or satalite fed) by the dozens to us news outlets. Its the broadcast equivalant of press releases, and often times we'll run their stories. They make them so easy to broadcast, and we need to fill space, that we're happy to do a little free "advertising" for them. Next time you see something about monopoly, jell-o, or something from the highway safety institute (for insurance, they always leave that part off) think video news release, and hand fed to most of the broadcasters.

but unless you only surf, email and so some wordprocessing you won't go far with that.

you can play all the old games you want on windows xp, and all the old games you want on windows 9x. The fact that you have a slower computer doesn't change that. What do you do on your ppro 200 and your k6-II other than surf, email, wordprocessing? fill me in, because if you're talking about gaming with new games, i'd love to know.

AAANND BTW, i love the macosx interface, and i just figured out why. I think its because the application doesn't have to take up all of your desktop (and it looks nice, but thats moot). I was using photoshop the other day when it came to me. I wish more people would write aps for X (as in xwindows and not as in osx) that were like that.
