Why not videotape our best teachers/profs in each subject - pay them ungodly amounts of money and let the students watch over youtube (thanks Cal) and take the tests at a standardized testing center? The thought of paying 1000's of teachers low pay as a glorified baby-sitting service for K-16 doesn't make sense anymore.
Wouldn't be interesting to see them show a fully configured Win98, 2000 and XP systems along with Linux to show what compelling reasons to move to the newest and best MS has to offer.
Linux is only a small part of their competition. Their own installed base is much bigger
Sure why not move.. there are many reasons including... the proposed $.14 tax on every bag you use at the grocery store...the >$700k median home price... the increased parking tickets minimum of >$50...etc..etc..etc....
I know this is off topic, but it makes me think that you may have more rights in Bezerkly.
Before you flame me - could something like Allofmp3 (that pays royalties) work. Variable quality rates, price per MB, included comericals with lower prices.
Ok.. even if it did save billions of tons of carbon flying into the air every second, think of all the shaded ground underneath that would be *hurting* animals.
Never gonna happen - at least not here in California.
Sorry, but I think M$ft has already has filed a patent on this. Of course we won't be able to learn from history, unless for a very very small fee we pay the beast.
Come on - all that may be great, but what really matters is what gives the most bang(features) for the buck (cheapest)... and in the minds of the average CEO with 10 billion options this is done by outsourcing to the lowest cost provider (India, China, etc..) regardless of code training, language etc..
The weather is just toooooo dreary... It's not the rain, it's the dark, cloudy, dreary, scattered showers that get to you... At least the price of housing is much cheaper. My prediction 5 years - MAX!
Who really cares about noisey fans/hard drives. No big deal. They won't wake me up at night like so 15 year old poser in his tricked out Civic with more bass wattage than horsepower.
I think the point EVERYONE is missing here is that all non-diesel cars would have to switch to run off diesel fuel.
Considering in the US that ~10% of cars are running on Diesel now, it'd be a huge additional cost in the near term. And one the article failed to mention.

Oh that's right Jobs is against that...
Am I the only one thinking this is the first step to subscription music on the IPod

It's sad that they paid all that money in car tabs for nothing, and then still don't really have an adequate transportation plan.
At some point all the ways to hook up to the internet w/o using MSFT software increases the chance that people will move away from Windows/Vista /etc.
Too bad MSFT comes with most computers - already, by now the monopoly would be over.

I mean seriously.. Do you really expect them to create software to stop them?
Wouldn't you, if you were a dirtball, do the same thing?

Again, 90% of the spyware ppl will either find away around it or trick ppl into downloading it. This is spam in another form.
At least the lawmakers *look* good.

Sure it's from Russia, but for ~$1.00 a CD for 256 VBR MP3's... Who cares... If I don't like a song, I've thrown away $.07..
Sorry West Coast ....
Umm.. the constant threat of earthquakes is nothing to sneeze at... while not as loud as thunder/lightning it's sure can be a wild ride.

No kidding - the reason I said he'd move back is the same reason I left PDX for the bay area: 200+ days of dreary weather vs. 200+ days of sunshine.
During the winter, I used to live for the freezing cold East Wind - just to see the sun. No wonder the cheapest non-crack den is 600k down here.

Stop that noise and I'll buy 10.
The real question here for Microsoft is can they make one *as* good as Ipod AND have a real battery that doesn't crap out in 1 year of hard use.
I've got to believe there a plent of PO'ed Ipod users ready to jump to spite Apple and the way the * handled* the battery issue.
Forget what the (Allofmp3.com) says. There are other sites claiming it is legal. And they give a much better description of why.
l ofmp3%20legal?

I do have to agreee with you regarding the rate of payment though - it seems awfully low in USD. Maybe it's OK when converted to Rubles?

Come on people - figure it out! M$ is all about $$. It was too costly to put in the security so they didn't do it. Plain and simple.
It's also an image issue - M$ doesn't want to have more infected machines out there (pirated or not) when they are on the "secure" initiative.
I still can't say "irrishaimase"... no clue where to begin ... I guess you're right.. They will go nuclear before I can say it....
