    I kind of was kidding when I started this joke, but I think it isn't really that much of a joke considering status they found that server in. It may well have been a gift of junk data, stuff they couldn't use anyway. If you can write malware and don't lock the server it goes to you are doing that for a reason not in error.

    I not only look gift horses in the mouth I do DNA testing.

    Well as we have seen in the past 7 years, the VP is quite powerful. Bush has been Cheney's puppet lo these many years. Kind of like Bush/Quayle in reverse. But your right, I don't think Steve is quite that slimy.

    It's mostly noise about gas prices that has this argument floating about. Base load is a myth, and only applies to certain types of generation. Hydro in particular isn't affected by fuel costs. Only Drought conditions and no much even then. They can vary the feed at will, in fact they have to, to manage the river flow. A few idled generators costs nothing in ROI.

    This article is pure noise.

    they own the rights to the word 'Canonical', and they draw a revenue from every time it's used on a linux blog. Also they get a stipend from the UN because the word Ubuntu scares ghosts who don't bother the living because they are trying to figure out what Ubuntu means. Also there is a 900 number you can call and for $9.99/minute someone will explain what linux is.

    That alone is making them millions.

    There is functional and then there is mostly functional. How do we know somebody won't find a way to reactivate the limp core and make a four core?

    I think it's a worthless product anyway. Four Core systems with 8gb ram are going for under a thousand even with a 1gb nvidia card. Do I really want to save $50 or something that might be partially dodgy?

    it seems like every slashdot thread is threatened with a variant of the Godwin law,

    Microsoft while huge in the high tech industry is still built on the traditional model from it's founding in the 70/80's (no I don't have details).

    Regardless of the nose in the air Linux users (I use Linux and Solaris) Microsoft is simply the least efficient OS available but not actively bad. It's the MiniVan of computing. It has it's place.
