  1. Drafting no longer exists; a designer operates data-centric software and the drawings are automatically generated from the 3D model.

  2. Pre-CAD and computer modelling, you'd need one designer and three people making detail drawings of the designer's work.

Now, you need one designer and perhaps a CAD/IT support guy (who can support multiple designers) and the software outputs the detail drawings.

In this example, 75% of the technical, skilled people lost their jobs and are now unemployable in their field of specialty.

Not to mention that there are far fewer entry-level positions now because those entry-level tasks have been automated. More worrisome is that less-experienced and less-knowledgeable people are operating big sophisticated software. People these days are hired for their knowledge of the specific software used than they are hired for design skill, knowledge and experience.

And of course, off-shoring is rampant as well. People in high cost of living areas simply cannot compete with other people in low cost of living regions.

But strangely, the total cost for major projects doesn't seem to have declined that much (or not at all) and is sometimes higher due to costly errors.

Yes, that is one thing that's so bizarre about all this.

My guess is that the vocal extreme minority of activists (who may not even be or "identify" as trans) have some kind of psychological need for attention or psychodrama. And, like other extreme activists or agitators, their claims and assertions ("raising awareness") are irresistible to the media, who provide them with what they need. And that creates a feedback loop.

Well, consider that some trans activists (who are not really helping actual trans people's situation at all) say that hetero males not wanting to have sex with trans women are homophobic/hateful/bad people, etc.

It's almost as if some of these activists are intentionally acting in such a way as to damage society's view and opinions of trans people.

    It's absurd.

"move these people into new jobs"

Above what age is this not practical?

When entire professions are effectively wiped out, are there going to be phoney, made-up jobs in order for people to collect a minimal paycheck? Because now there'll be all that many more similarly skilled people vying for the same low-paying work.
