I am a designer. I design things, and I'm good at it. For what I design to be fabricated/built, I need an accredited engineer (not just someone who has the company-assigned title of engineer) to stamp and sign my design.
I remember being told by a headhunter that including a photo on a resume is a bad idea, political correctness-wise (supposedly). Something about "having a face for engineering".
Brilliant observation, comrade MichaelSmith. Please stand in the waiting line of parents wishing to control offspring, we will get to you later.
PS If, in fact, you do not actually have children, but wish to expound on the pure idiocy of those who do, you can line up over there. Thank you for your patience.
Maybe it's the administrators, those destroyers of joy in life
But becoming an "administrator" is a goal of many, because it virtually guarantees job security (especially if administrators can get together as an organized group or mindset. If this can be accomplished within a government-type organization, even better!). Plus the ability of being able to tell more talented people what to do, with enforcement powers.
"Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people: those who work to further the actual goals of the organization, and those who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, vs. union representative who work to protect any teacher including the most incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases, the second type of person will always gain control of the organization, and will always write the rules under which the organization functions."
I'm liking my MacBook as a replacement for what I've been using over the past 15 years. I can still boot into XP if needed, but I'm not a gamer any more and only use Windows to run Fast Stone for basic batch image manipulation, AutoCAD and NavisWorks.
"Console Makers Worry Over Growing Competition From Apple" leads me to think that Apple has released a competitor to the Wii, xBox, PlayStation. Bad slashdot editor, bad (swats with rolled-up newspaper).
Please don't mention this inconvenient truth to the warmists. There's going to be a lot of ass covering/"I Didn't Know" face-saving backpedaling in the near future. Or the whole thing will just sorta "go away" to make space for the next manufactured crisis, the lack of fresh water and cute furry animals.

That's true, and Trepidity (597)'s comment downstream of yours is also true. Although he mentions, "real engineers".
Yeah, I'm a lamer, I have a FaceBook account.
Am I the only one who's been getting a shitload of FaceBook spam recently?
This makes me feel all fuzzy good inside, so I endorse it. It "feels" greeny, so it must be a good thing.
Heck, the first modem dates back to 1962.
Which, coincidentally, is the year of my birth.
Evidence!
Irrational decisions? By college students? Wow, amazing.
Good points, Darkness404.
...you are the canon-fodder.
See my other post in this topic regarding the inclusion of photographs on CVs.

What, no +1 Funny mod yet for this? I may have to reset my subscriber options.

Fucking amazing comment, AC, whoever you may be. My hat is off to you!
In ironic-speak, you are making fun of monkeys.
the torrent of retards that make up most of the public
Wow. Do you really think that most of the public are retards?
a lot of students who get good grades are simply memorizing and regurgitating facts, especially in liberal arts courses.
Towards what goal is this graded as success, indoctrination?

No doubt that you are correct.

-2, does not demonize Harper government enough.
If you have allergies and feel an allergy attack coming, are you better off taking a pill or waiting for the temporary affliction to pass?
For most cases, how do you know that the symptoms wouldn't have gone away all by themselves?
Does anyone really care anyway? This is only Canada after all.
Your webpage says: I had 1 1/2 boxes of target ammo for that plus a Box of Buffalo Bore (for bears) and a box of Hydroshock (for people).
Are you arming bears while you bear arms?
...and its too late for any of us to do anything about it.
Don't buy their cars.
