Is there any emulator that can run OSX? Anything?

  2. Still under root? on Lindows 2.0.0 Released · · Score: 2, Interesting

I was hoping they would find a better way to run the system rather than running under root... is it still like that in version 2.0? I submitted a question to their FAQ..

  7. Are you CRAZY? [AC reply / nvws] on Harry Potter strikes back · · Score: 1

    Hello monsieur AC.

LoTR is hardly literature. It's a boring travel log. Really. There aren't enough girls there. And I don't like neither Shakespeare nor Stephen King.

  8. Harry Potter vs. LoTR on Harry Potter strikes back · · Score: 3, Interesting

So what's worse - HP or LoTR?

LoTR has shallow characters, and everybody knows that (even the fans). Tolkien prefered to concentrate on his universe rather on the characters, and the result is that I don't care about the protagonists, so why would I care about the story?

HP has much more interesting characters, and they develop through the books. The main problem is that it's childish. There are gags which repeat through the series, like for example the usual mess Harry Potter leaves in the Dursley's place before his school year start. I get sort of an industrial feeling when I read it.. especially during the fourth book.

But what, at least HP is a page turner. I couldn't finish the first LoTR book - I had an urge to fall asleep each time I read it.. (especially after the gang left the Elven village).

And about the movies.. HP was more interesting than LoTR.. but what, I think the HP book is more enjoyable. After all, the movie has to cut a lot of stories.. and besides, it's still fun to imagine the story yourself.

  9. Disappointing on Run Mac OS X Under Linux · · Score: 1

Great! It doesn't need a ROM image. Unfortunately it needs a Mac.

I'm dying to run Mac OS X (and I don't mind buying the OS), but there's no way I'm going to actually buy a mac..

And also.. is it possible to create pseudo-gravity inside a circular object by spinning it? I mean.. if you jump from it, you might get cut off from the "local gravity" and just stay above while everything continues turning above you.

  11. Avoiding answering calls in the wrong time on Do Cell Phones Make Us Stupid? · · Score: 1

My phone is almost always in the "one ring" profile, which means that when someone calls me, the phone will ring once and then stop nagging me (but will continue to blink). This way, I don't have to answer if I'm busy speaking to someone else, or in the toilet - like the thing that happened to the author of the linked story.

I do it because I want to give the people in the foreground priority over the cellular phone. The phone can wait..

Unfortunately, only Nokia phones support the "one ring" mode for some reason.. and they are usually low on other lovely features that other phones have (like unlimited caller groups or bigger memory for SMS messages).

  12. CDNB on Faith Returns to Buffy · · Score: 1

  16. The Goblin Returns [nvws] on Assembly 2002 Demo Party Results · · Score: 1

It's nice to see that people still do demo conventions and stuff. It's so 80's. :)

I was also happy to see that Skaven from Future Crew did a comeback. But I was disappointed from the result.. first of all, he didn't release the "source" of the song, "The Goblin Returns", but just the finished product (an OGG file). That file got first place, but it was much less interesting to hear than it's precedent, "Catch That Goblin" (which also got first place in the same convention, 7 years ago... - that file is an S3M, and it's playable through winamp).

Btw: The latter song (the one I liked more) can be great as the official anthem of the Troll High Council. :)

Many of the things written (with bad grammar) in that drawings are true, unfortunately, but the reasons for all those are not mentioned. The reasons houses get destroyed and people gets killed is that the PA encourages the terrorists organizations. The PA is powered by hatred, and the children are educated to hate Israel and Jewish people, even in times of peace.
