    It has the potential to be, at least for interpreting javascript. The gui still feels a lot more sluggish though, and general rendering still seems quite a bit slower as well. Just remember to do the about:config thing, then search for jit, and turn the two options on to get the speed boost.

    Seems a lot smoother for me on the kde nightlies using desktop effects. Only problem is that fullscreen in firefox crashes instantly. Works wonderfully in opera fullscreen though, smoothest I've seen flash running on this machine.

    Baldness helps to an extent because it's associated with higher levels of testosterone. Also, historically, you'd get a 'lot' of mating in before the baldness began appearing.

    They are never going to get away from the cultural influence.

    I suspect that's why they used two different countries for their data. It's funny just how horrified some people are by the idea of hardcoded behavior in humans. It's a fight that's pretty much over at this point, and the nature and nurture camps both had a lot right and wrong.

    I'm moving to a fairly large sized town that is actually split right in two with google earth/maps. The eastern side of town is horrible quality, and the left is normal. Which is a little annoying given that it's only a few hours drive away from one of google's offices. I really hope this winds up filling up some of the nearly dead spaces.

    I think I'd be more freaked out if someone was applying who hadn't had an occasional beer by that age. I don't know 'anyone' in my high school who actually stayed away from all alcohol until it was legal.

    I haven't used it in about a year, so this might have changed. But boa struck me as fantastic to use 90% of the time. But the remaining 10% would be some of the most horrible lockups I've ever seen on linux, along with some linux specific bugs in a lot of different areas. I eventually just had to give up on using it. Things might have changed since then though, with all the wx updates that have come down the line.

    Rowling's wealth and success means she can't be a victim?

    Legally, it's more the reverse. Her wealth, fame, and reputation pretty much ensures she'll always be the victim if going up against someone without the money to afford equal representation. Which is where some of the unfair, but understandable, bitterness comes in.

    I think it's absurd that such a large bill could even be assigned, I'd have to think that there are people in AT&T that would think similarly.

    The first time it happened, you might have a point. But it's hardly a unique situation anymore.

    It's a pretty huge improvement too, at least on my machine. It's been a little more unstable, and crashes are usually the result. But the speed improvements seem pretty impressive. Both from a subjective feel, and benchmarking.

    But the beauty of Chrome, which it seems you failed to notice, is that it is open-source. We can vouch for the security, add features, and improve it to our heart's content.

    Security yes, it remains to be seen on the adding features and improvements. Open source means it's possible, but google's the gatekeeper. I think it's a safe assumption that they're going to be really picky about accepting contributions from too far outside their circle. Sure, there's forks as a possibility. But then you lose much of the beauty of it, having the powerhouse of google pushing it.

    I haven't tried it, but the source code for chrome comes with instructions on how to compile it under osx. Supposedly it's in a working state there. Only some components actually build under linux at the moment though.

    I wish they'd provide a bit more focus. I can get more information about naruto than anyone could wish for, great. But I can't get access to primary sources with which to evaluate medical or scientific issues. I know there's a lot of problems involved with getting the public free access to journals, but google has a lot of clout and coudl make a big difference there.

    To be fair, we're living in one of the few times in human history when typical snake oil claims 'can' be real. There actually are drugs that can decrease wrinkles, increase hair growth, or keep you awake when you should be asleep. I can't blame people quite as much for not understanding how to do proper research on something, or knowing signs of a scam.

    Really? The picky gods seem in general to hate worshiping other gods more than they hate not being themselves worshiped. Agnosticism would seem a safer bet if fear of retribution is the motivation, given how many thousands of picky gods there are. Christianity seems a bad bet in general anyway. Wouldn't it make more sense to assume that the very oldest religions would have a more valid claim to authenticity than the newer ones? Besides that, Enki kicks ass.

    I agree with most everything you said, except I think the democrats have historically been more harsh with drug laws than the republicans. It was one of their big "I'm tough on crime!" pissing contests a while back, and I don't think they've really stepped down except in the same amount of isolated cases that republicans have. I could be wrong though.

    I really wish they'd open source the player, or at least do a linux port of it themselves. It's always a pain to rip the dvds to mkv, cut the riff track, and then splice and join it with the original audio just to get the ability to watch it easily in more than one viewing.

    I'd rather have a good camera with me as well. However, 90% of the time that I want to take a picture of something it's unplanned. And there's no way I'm carrying yet another gadget around with me all the time. In those cases, low quality is better than nothing at all.

    Not to mention that a lot of us have a bad emotional vibe from his constant pimping of bee movie, and his wife's cookbook thing. I have a mental flinch at the thought of hearing a commercial with him now. Before the constant interviews where he showed a disturbing lack of humor, I'd have been a bit more open.
