I have some Commodore PET tapes and Floppies that I can read, fortunately the 2040/4040 and c2n are compatible with the Commodore 64's 1541 and 1531. I do also have on hand an SFD-1001 and a PET to read the 8050 and 8250 disks people send to have converted as well.
... the name "Dumont" appeared on a freight container that was part of Sam's house, but overall they were few and also subtly done.
It looked to me like Sam's place was the "garage" that Walter Gibbs had founded Encom in (as mentioned in TRON), thus the name Dumont (Gibbs' program in the old grid). it looked like a waterfront warehouse - and really thought that was a cool touch there.
as far as someone else's mention of the Zen thing re-watch the original TRON, in the Apple III hacking session in the beginning, Flynn is in a robe with some Asian symbol, so there is a bit of connection. Also in the years following the first entry to the game grid, he surely has pondered a bit more on religion.
Was hoping to see a SFX Boxlightner/TRON face, but didn't get the satisfaction.
So reflecting on the end, Sam has Flynn's identity disk (which later in the movie showed ID discs used to patch up programs ala Quarra) , and possibly a backup of the server, so I figure he might not be truly gone.
Adding a wired scanner lessens the portability. I was thinking like the ipod/iphone with the camera doing scanning, use that as a barcode scanner. No extra devices, you can visually see what is scanned (with the right UI) etc. No extra fumbling.
The other post suggestion of an integrated keyboard would be another bonus too.
I thought about it. I could see it work for us for use with data collection for our DDs, which are internet/web based. But for me I would think if there was an integrated barcode to key entry feature that would do it.
Looking at the iPad/iPod/iPhone the barcode apps are more for amazon, not so you can use it as an entry alternative in another app. So without that they don't have much value here.
Thats, right - twice as good and as valuable as that old crufty Apple I, in fact, if you you got the cash, I know where to get my hands on an Apple III!
The site is very friendly for people interested in assisting in developing LibreOffice. They even have a list of tasks that starting out contributors can do (such as remove useless comments or commented out code blocks.)
A lot of the listed hacks feel like they are trying to clean house so they can regain a good grasp on the project. Looks like LibreOffice is going to get some needed refactoring.
I wish I had such talent, I was using we in the figurative sense.
Trying to find an "in" (or just some good status updates) into the Quanta project is currently an effort of reading through multiple outdated development sites. Those that I had found more resent babble on about it being included as plug-ins or something in the new KDE development tools but does not seem to be approachable yet for a web developer like me.
The talk and reports up to the release was on how the gas engine was purely as a generator for power for the electrical system, which would simplify the drive system of the car, as there would be no duplication of effort on the gas side. The upshot of this was purported to be a light more efficient gas engine that could produce better MPG as a generator to the electric system then would a hybrids gas drive system.
Chevy said multiple times this was the case (electric car w/gas generator, better efficiency, less complexity) that is not what was presented.
Mainly compatibility - Palm seems to have stagnated in some technologies and failed to work on implementing some standards and everyone else seems has passed them by.
How about this, car co a made this nifty car that could take regular gasoline or diesel all you had to do was flip a switch.
One day you take it into the shop and the mechanic removes the switch, regular gas only, even though diesel had better than twice the mpg- "company told me to, sorry. Hey, here's a couple bucks for your troubles."
>> If enough people do it, it will cost sony more than they thought it would, and be a warning to others. It's all too late anyway, if they haven't completely opened the door to piracy, they've certainly put down a welcome mat and turned on the porch lights.
Hardly. Would show to manufacturers that the feature was really valuable and maybe they can make more money by repackaging it at a higher cost. Also that removing features on the currently installed customer base is something they can get away with. (Of course many companies can claim prior art on that - i.e. Apple with Qucktime and iTunes and many others)
Ok, I think the climate is changing, good, bad or otherwise, from the looks of history its done it several times before.
I think some thought/action should be put into dealing with inevitable climate change instead of having the false sense we can keep things the way they are permanently. Sooner or later water levels will rise or drop, temperate zones will change, habitable areas may be come less so, people ever consider that scenario?

Part of school is the social dynamic; yeah I was a outcast nerd, but I got most of my meager mixed social experience from school. It is one of the few controlled environments where you are forced together and taught to interact and communicate. This is very important.
Also I have issues of children being distracted from the outside when in vehicles, I fear that might lead them to difficulty in paying attention to whats going on outside when they learn to drive.
I concur, been on for most of a year, and while most of it is empty, there are areas of constant activity. I think a lot of the marketing tie ins are empty because they are like a commercial, they are all fancy and such but after a few minutes its all just the same from then on. Like a good web portal you have to maintain it to keep interest.
If the author had looked for an interest topic and searched around for related sims he'd probably end up on one that is active.
A lot of people interested in design are in SL as it does provide a easy 3d editing/preview environment.
I've noticed, many people with disabilities of one form or another enjoy SL as they can blend in with the crowd. Also as an educational tool it has lots of merits, for doing 3-D simulations, virtual re-creations and virtual personal experiences.
And for me, SL is excellent as a mini vacation, I go there I leave RL and I also leave my human form behind, there are a lot of non-human Avatars in SL.

And yeah, the soundtrack rocked.
Is this the year they finally port Quanta to KDE4?

That's the old army, now thy hire contractors to do construction.
Heh, I can do better then that,
I have an Apple II

Id keep up my whining but do nothing, while I take notes on "innovative" ways to exploit the technology as people develop on it for free.
Then take their idea and if they complain, threaten them for breaking the EULA, or something along those lines.

Why don't we finish some unfinished projects (Quanta) that many people are waiting for before changing things again.

One Intel Tech to Another....
"Damn, still only seeing only Frustration, must be a glitch in the software..."
I got it, completely British:
the iFAB!
Yeah, baby, yeah!
for Clive Sinclair to come out of retirement and make a new iPod thing or something?
Will we see Quanta Plus 4 being feature complete in KDE?? Many of us are still waiting for progress on KDEs development flagship.

I'm sure a lot of folks would rather see their paid-for features returned than a few dollars back from a retailer.

I could see being an owner of a failed company domain... like chuck@enron.com, that seems kinda cool.
Just thinking of the same thing, like seeing a flyer for "computer pro" which includes website design and them having a yahoo account.
