They didn't care how many workers died building the transcontinental rail. There was no OSHA, no EEO, no Fair Labor Standards Act, no such thing as worker's compensation for injuries. Yeah, it was a simpler time. A little rough on the help though. Then there is the EPA, etc.
Don't be such an arrogant prick. Most people know what it costs to operate a car. Aside from the purchase price there's more than gas involved. Taxes all over the place for one thing. Tires, wear and tear, oil and filters, wipers. you name it. Anyone who has owned a car for very long should have a good idea about the costs. It's all about convenience. Just like the damn 20 ounce cokes in the gas station coolers that cost damn near 2 dollars when you can buy a 2 liter bottle in a grocery store for almost half that. People pay for convenience and being able to come and go at will is worth a lot of money to most people.
You've got to realize though, that those congressmen are our constitutional representatives. They represent the power of the people in this democracy. If the CIA can get away with spying on Senate computers then that's it. They really are above the law. They can literally do any damn thing they want to. It's kind of like Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon. The CIA director should get his dick stomped on. In fact 2 or 3 years in jail for him would do the country a world of good. If no one gets in trouble for this then you can mark it as official. The Republic is dead, all we have is a farce.
It really all depends on your purpose. I can see these used headless for all kinds of things. Low power projects will line up. If you want a PC then you can pick up one off the curb more powerful than this or the pi. I see them thrown out all the time. I picked up a core2duo laptop for 25 dollars the other day with 2 gigs of ram. The battery only lasts about 10 minutes but it works good running makulu linux. It's all according to the purpose you have.
I think that's why, despite it's obvious added costs, the iPhone thrives. It just works and that's what most people want a phone to do. My wife is still raging about her "upgrade." I told her to take it to AT&T and tell them to downgrade it back to where it was. I looked at it and it's really not that bad but all the changes are just cosmetic. Why annoy your customers with that crap?
Windows 8 isn't as universally hated as Vista was but I haven't heard anyone with much in the way of nice things to say about it. As far as Android goes my wife's Note3 got updated the other day and she's been on a constant bitch ever since. A lot of people, my wife included, don't like changes that don't have some obvious improvement. Changing the way her phone works or looks just to be doing it makes her unhappy.
It's a new sport. Pretty soon they'll be so scarce in Texas the government will start to have to issue hunting licenses and "fanatic jihadi" tags. Don't want to overhunt.
There have been some interesting characters from Texas on both sides of the aisle. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Texas though. I spent a few months on a base near San Antonio many years ago and loved the area. Although I wasn't that crazy about Lackland.:)
I use insults to be insulting. Why else would I use an insult you dolt? I used it to describe her as I see her. I heard it when she spouted that and it meant exactly what she said. Trying to twist it after the fact so it doesn't mean what she said is silly and useless. No one is buying your bullshit. I'm not a fan of many politicians on either side of the aisle but Nancy is in a league of her own.
ESPN isn't that bad as long as I don't have to see or hear Chris Berman, the most obnoxious person on TV with the possible exception of Kim Kardashian.
Don't forget my favorite democrat of all. Nancy "We have to pass it to find out what's in it!" Pelosi. My nomination for the most ignorant cunt anywhere, not just in the house of ill repu...er....house of representatives. Stupidity is a bipartisan issue.
It's actually okay to copy a video camera for your own use. I bet I could make a copy of a Chevrolet Camaro for my own use and that would be okay too. If I take one it's stealing but making a copy is not stealing. Downloading Disney movies is not stealing it's a violation of their right to sell the item. There is a difference and it's a fairly clear one.

I love the idea of rail. It's the actual implementation that so often sucks though.

It's the dickheads in the far left lane doing 55 that make it miserable.
If they had a set of balls between them they'd send the motherfucker to jail where he belongs. They don't and they won't.

I know, he's really a lot nicer now.

I think the main reason Linux grew like it did is Linus Torvalds himself. His attitude as a benevolent tyrant seems to have worked pretty well.

When I can't say anything nice I simply say nothing at all.
Come on man. Lighten up a little. He died, we're supposed to speak well of the dead. Save the hatred for the live assholes.
Hey, it warranted a reply from you. He must be important.

Come on, admit it. You had to have snickered just a little.

Quit whining and get a job.
I'm pretty sure that ACME already has a patent for this technology.

I once had to go with my wife to an Opera. That, I believe, qualifies as suffering.
He is a fanatic actually.....just in a different way.
