I'm a conservative and I could give a flying fuck about the GOP. I don't know if solar power is the answer but it may be a part of the answer and as long as it can pay it's own way it deserves a chance. It almost has to be better than coal. The GOP claims to be conservative but they're really just like the fucking DEMS, all about money.

It's the desktop of choice of a lot of people. I've seen the average windows user and guess what? They mostly don't know what they're doing. The overwhelming majority of windows users happily install malware on their computers on a daily basis. That's the desktop we're shooting for in the Linux community? Average users are going to fuck up their systems regardless of what platform they use.

The battles of the first world war were hell on earth. The battles of the Somme and Verdun in particular, with casualties approaching one million each were horrendous. They estimate that the remains of over 100,000 soldiers still occupy the forrest near Verdun. One of the more pointless and bloody wars in human history and the technology of that day pales in comparison to what is available today. You know World War III is coming and it's going to suck really bad. Only the knowledge of the potential devastation has delayed it and eventually we'll have some group that doesn't give a shit kick it off.

War drives tecnology and technology drives war. From the development of bows to bronze then iron armor and then gunpowder and so on it has been a steady progression of killing science. I'd say war is the driving force behind most advancement of science. You can bitch about robots with guns but it will happen and the reason is very simple and obvious. If one nation has them all will have to have them. The only way to stop that would be to have a one world government and given the nature of government and it's fear of it's own citizens they would have to develop weapons to control the populace. War is in mans nature, the only way to stop it is to change that nature. Luck with that.

It doesn't get any easier than that. Personally I believe there are a lot of things worse than war. Worse even than dying.

I mostly use piratebay for downloading shows from England. Downton Abbey for my wife is one. Frankly there is more on DirectTV than I'll ever have time to watch. I can't bother streaming anything. My wife DVR's a lot of shows and occasionally I'll sit and watch one with her, mostly cooking shows or the like. Occasionally I'll watch football or baseball. Really if it wasn't for the wife and the grandkids I wouldn't miss any of it much. Game of Thrones and Justified are the only two shows I regularly watch. I've almost entirely stopped watching the news, it all pisses me off too much so why would I watch something that's just going to aggravate me? Maybe I'm just old. Get the fuck off my lawn.
