I was in Hawaii about 17 years ago and during my time there I took a tour around the island of Oahu. There was one location with many large wind turbines that were derelict. The tour guide told us about how the maintenance on those turbines far outstripped the value of the energy they reaped. I am sure technology has advanced since then but salt is still very corrosive and maintenance costs are still high. I'd say it's not proven until they've been up and running at least a decade or so.
It doesn't make sense to expect Congress to write all the rules and regulations for everything. They enact legislation that enables agencies like the EPA to do their jobs. Congress lacks the necessary technical knowledge to know how to directly manage environmental concerns. The problem is that the political cronies that run agencies like the EPA seem to lack the necessary knowledge as well.
There is some truth to this. Of course millions of us keep weapons in the house without shooting ourselves. I've always wondered what's up with all these unloaded guns that people keep shooting themselves with. I don't get how that happens but maybe that's because I've never had an unloaded gun in my house.
I think my record for the Sheriff's deputies arriving is 3 minutes. Still not good enough. Of course you could hear that Ford mod motor screaming from a mile or so away and that had the bad guys hauling ass. Those cops love to roll out.
I remember back around 1991 or so a friend of mine was looking out at the parking lot from our building at a burning car. It was over a half mile away and he said "some poor son of a bitch is going to have a bad day." About 30 minutes later the security police turned up looking for him, he was the poor son of a bitch. The electrical system on his Ford Bronco had caught fire and it burned to scrap in a few minutes. It turns out it wasn't an uncommon thing either, a lot of them did that. We had fun telling him his Bronco was really a Blazer.
I'm bored with the standard silicone babe blowing the guy with the 14" appendage then he eats her then they do doggy, legs in the air and spoon positions in some order then he pulls out, she hits her knees with mouth open and he jacks off on her face and tongue. It was cool the first 5000 times or so but now leaves me flacid.
"I think the fact that you believe defending the rule of law, freedom, and the constitution is "silly" demonstrates profound ignorance on your part."
Well I shouldn't be amazed you assume all that but I guess I still am. I have great respect for rule of law, freedom and the Constitution. Just because I view eavesdropping as trivial, which it is, doesn't mean I'm apathetic about freedom. I've known for decades though, that all communications in this country were vulnerable to this kind of thing. Advances in technology may make it easier today but it's not a new thing. Maybe you've just tuned into it so that's why you are so strident in your objections. I don't say it's a good thing but it's here and it's not going away. You can scream all you want but only a handful will agree with you that it's a major issue. That's because our government leaves us mostly alone to live our lives so most people are comfortable with this kind of thing. The government knows how far they can go and really have no reason to go farther. Of all the issues in my life this doesn't rank in the top ten. You keep on tilting at those windmills there Don Q. Luck.
If you're scared of this little thing you must be shitting your pants over the new obamacare system. Basically the government is going to have control of all your info to the most remote data. Talk about trust. The decision to trust the government with our lives was made decades ago. Bitching about a little eavesdropping is silly. They allready know pretty much everything about me. If you can't trust them you're fucked.
It's not your distrust of the government I object to as that is actually a healthy attitude. It's the overblown reaction to minor incidents and the attacking of anyone who tries to say that maybe it's not such a big deal. You've accused me of being against the Constitution and freedom when I've stated no such thing. The world is all about balance. Maybe the NSA have gone too far but things are far, far from the horrible state you are claiming. Step back, take a deep breath and relax some. It's really not so bad.
That could be it. It was 17 years ago.

No this stuff is cyclical. You'll see it again in another decade or so.
I piss on our new Urine Powered Robotic Overlords!

We need the EPA. We just need to put people in charge there that have a clue. That, of course, would take a government that had a clue. Sadly........
Parachutes! That's cheating!
Joe Biden loves it too.

That's the NPR that I know and love.

Relax. Shit happens.
Electrical fires are common in gas cars too. Many times new ones. Check the recall lists.
Try this one.

I love youtube!
Ever see a car burn? It's awesome. They burn to scrap so frigging fast it's amazing. If you aren't quick getting out you'll fry too.
My wife does. She's watching Downton Abbey right now and if anything happens to stop new episodes coming she's going to pitch a bitch.
Good thing they don't do aircraft that way. You can't get out of the damn thing if it catches on fire, at least not and live to tell about it.

It could but it wont. At least not without some kind of crazy workaround that will make it not worth the effort.
I love this kind of fanboyism. My platform isn't quite as shitty as yours. Great.
This is the short and censored version. Supposedly it was a 5 hour video. Anyone got a torrent?
