Yeah, I would like to hold out a few years and pick up an electric vehicle once the range goes up and the price gets a little more reasonable for a decent one.
Sounds a lot like the US House and Senate. I can actually go bitch to my local State rep right here at his local office. They usually try to help people with genuine problems.
State rep as in The California Legislative body. You know, the people that write laws for California. It is a California STATE university we're talking about. Think.
People keep saying this crap and yet I've owned 3 with little problems here and there but basically they're hard to actually break. Now the other Ford stuff like the Taurus with the fucked up Transmission that just suddenly wont do anything out of the blue is another matter. Ford made great full size stuff but the little cars all seem to break routinely. We wont mention the Pinto.
I don't know what Ford's doing now but the last 4 cars I owned were Ford products and all performed well with minimal problems. My 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis is still banging along at over 200K with no major problems except hard use has made it cosmetically unacceptable to my wife. Unfortunately they no longer make a full size car. No one does. I rented a Ford Exploder and that definitely is not an option. It rode shitty and handled shitty. My 77 GMC 4X4 pickup with off road tires had a better ride. The fancy entertainment center refused to sync with my phone or my wife's. I thought there was some trick to it but the rental people couldn't get it to work either. I'm thinking you have to have a microsoft phone.
I rented a Ford Exploder recently and it's system compared very unfavorably with the Chrysler 300 I rented the week before. So much so that when I next rent a car it wont be that one. The system in the Chrysler was a little strange to me to start with but after the first day it went very well. I had the Ford for a week and it never really worked worth a damn. I'm looking at buying a new car in the next few months and my last 3 cars were Mercury Grand Marquis. The current one is a 2001 and it's time for a new car. Ford did away with the Panther platform and I don't know what to buy now. There's really nothing I like in the Ford camp and while the Chrysler 300 drove and handled great and was very comfortable it had damn all for room. The trunk is like one tenth the size of my Marquis'. I literally haven't seen anything that suits me.
That's a problem for engineering. However I have Google which leads to a site that tells me it'd need to be 1 meter thick. A lot of water requiring many rocket trips to get it to orbit since for the likely vehicle required to make the trip to Mars that'd be about 330 metric tons. To put into perspective a Saturn V, a very large booster, can put 120 of those metric tons into orbit in one trip so figure 3 trips just for the water required. Back in the early 70s the cost of launching a Saturn V to orbit was in the range of nearly 200 million dollars. I shudder to think what that would cost today. Most likely they would use many launches by smaller vehicles to save money but it'd be some expensive water. I'm sure they would have recycling to keep from losing their shielding.
Over 90 percent of what's on TV doesn't appeal to me at all. But then I'm sure a lot of what I watch wouldn't appeal to most people. One of the few shows I like that a lot of people also like is Game of Thrones. Most of the others struggle in the ratings. Fortunately a lot of marginal shows that would get cut normally manage to make it since there are so many channels. I like Longmire and when it got cut it moved to Netflix so I can still see it. I remember when I had cable briefly back in the 80's there was almost never anything I wanted to see playing on it. Now I have DIrecTV and I have no time to watch all the things I'd like to see. But then I could easily live without it as I did back when my children were young and I just had a rabbit ear antenna on top of a 27" CRT television. I'm fortunate that I have the money to waste on it.
"The Mars rover Curiosity has allowed us to finally calculate an average dose over the 180-day journey. It is approximately 300 mSv, the equivalent of 24 CAT scans. In just getting to Mars, an explorer would be exposed to more than 15 times an annual radiation limit for a worker in a nuclear power plant."
Sadly though, when I do the math the 15 times is obviously a mistake, they probably meant that figure for a round trip. I'm sure 50 isn't that big a deal as they would err on the safe side but 300 is not even close. And as I said that's for one way and not counting the stay on Mars itself which also has issues with GCR. I think the issue can be managed but I suspect it'll be 5 decades or more before we're up to anything on that scale. And that assumes we don't manage to blow ourselves up before it happens.
They get more money off the crapware than they make from the phone. This is the main reason people buy iPhones. I'm even tempted but I refuse to buy a phone without removable battery and an SD card slot. When there are no more premium Android phones with removable batteries and sd cards then I'll have no more reason to buy Android. The funny thing is I wanted a Note 7 but when I went to get it I found you couldn't remove the battery I rejected it. My wife thinks I'm a genius now.:)
It's funny they pay them in an effort to look bad since Trump does that for them for free. I wish he'd quit going off on tangents and concentrate on how fucked up Hilliary is. There's no way to make himself look better he must concentrate on stripping all that window dressing that the MSM has draped over Hilliary and show her for what she is. It's got to be about making himself the lesser of two evils. In a race with two such despicable people running any campaign will have to be negative, there are no positives.
He meant it as a rhetorical question. He really didn't want to know. You waste time responding to people like that as he's invested in Hilliary and thinks she cares about him.
That's about 15 times the annual exposure allowed for US Nuclear plant workers. And that's just one way not to mention the increased exposure on Mars. I suppose it wont kill them during the trip there and back but I'd bet it would take a couple of decades off their lifespan.
Yeah, I would like to hold out a few years and pick up an electric vehicle once the range goes up and the price gets a little more reasonable for a decent one.
Yeah, I'd love a Mercedes unfortunately I don't make that kind of money.

Sure, sometime after 2150.

It wasn't you. I rented one for a week and it never worked. Maybe you need a Microsoft Phone.

You must be one of those deplorable populist uneducated mongrels who is racist against foreigners. Sad!
Seriously though, she should have written her state rep. and would possibly gotten some kind of response. This is after all a California state job.

Sorry dude. I wasn't serious about nuking them, I just have a warped sense of humor. I hate to see the innocent suffer too.
This is the quote I read....

Maybe that's why I liked him so much. I knew he wasn't all bad.
Thanks! ;)

I seriously doubt they beat up anyone peaceful. The thugs on the other hand might have gotten thumped.
It was 22 million but they aren't missing anymore. They were found 7 years ago but since there wasn't anything in them it wasn't newsworthy.
He meant it as a rhetorical question. He really didn't want to know. You waste time responding to people like that as he's invested in Hilliary and thinks she cares about him.
Ah, but without the risk there is no reward.
Actually for GCR water and fuel make better shielding. Since you have to take it with you anyway......
Exploring the solar system is dangerous. At least if you want to do it in person. Rovers not so much.
