They have something similar to that in the Star Trek universe, with replicators and all. Replicate food, Rolex's, and even Britney Spears. Ok, maybe a female much more intelligent than Ms. Spears. She's a ditz after all - not knowing the geographic location of Canada after all. But the whole point is, once you can replicate something for free, Capitalism goes bye-bye.
So basically what we're supposed to be hoping for is some kind of scandelous revelation that Microsoft has been using screwy accounting all these years. But they could also sink quite a bit if their next OS release doesn't sell well (ie 2003 or Longhorn), as they've always used some kind of fuzzy-math where they take profit from the quarter where their latest OS premiered and dump it into less profitable quarters to fill in the gaps.
Becuase if the sysadmin "deleted" the questionable content with something other than the [Delete] key, such as the dd utility, the "victim" could easily claim you deleted their family photos. And who could really tell otherwise, as there being 0's written to that sector of the hard drive.
It may be cracked, but the majority of the customers who have said DRM scheme (ie DVD's), are too busy to rip a DVD on their PC. Most people want something that will easily let them dupe DVD's they rent at Blockbuster (ie DVDXCopy) that allows them to play the copy in their home dvd player. Mostly related to ease-of-use, but also don't forget that most of the MPEG4 codecs used for DVD rips don't support Dobly 5.1 sound (or at least they didn't last time I asked a Divx enthuseist friend of mine).
VPN's are preferable for filesharing, because they keep bystanders from knowing what your doing in the first place. They work great when used with an OpenBSD box setup as a router.
DARPA dropping the OpenBSD grant just goes to prove that the U.S. Department of Defense cares more about their self-image than security & stability. To me, this makes them appear to have swapped priorities with the White House. Instead of focusing on Defense, the DoD is focusing on PR. Maybe the Canadian Defence Ministry will pick up where DARPA left off.
Step 1: Obtain binaries from older releases of closed-source software
Step 2: Make SCO recompile the older code they say has the code in dispute with the exact same libraries (and in the same OS, etc)
Step 3: MD5 the original binaries, and then MD5 the one's they just compiled. Compare.
I'd file for bankruptsy too, but the catch is that doing so really irks the jerks who run the "credit rating" cartels. And of course everybody knows that trying to repair a credit rating is like trying to get un-blacklisted.
My epson Stylus C60 has a chip on each cartridge. I've pried them off before (after the cartridge is empty of course), and they're not connected to the inside of the cartridge that I could see, so I suspect there just there to authenticate themselves as being Geniune Epson (R) cartridges.
Yeah, that does suck. Especially since the only commone filesystem that both OS X and Windows can read are FAT (I think). Are there any journalized filesystems that could interoperate with both platforms, thus yielding a true cross-platform external hard drive?
You can just take an iPod that was formatted for Windows (Fat) and go to a Mac and format it for Mac (HPFS(+?)). After formatting, you should be able to flash it to the newer firmware.
oops, my mistake. That would be 30mm Depleted Uranium rounds. Which wouldn't leave much left afterwards.
LinuxTag will probably tell SCO 'tough cookies' and possibly blacken the sky with paratrooping attourneys... maybe with some air support from IBM.
.30 cal DE rounds.
I hope this means I'll get to fly that A-10 I have sitting in my back yard and peg some SCO attourneys with the beloved

It's kind of hard for the publisher to "fix" the game so that end-users can't cheat when the end users can "fix" it with a hex editor.
I dunno what it's worth, but I drive a helluva lot better with my hands than I do with a mouse. Same with my scoped pellet rifle.
Why would anyone be telling other people their passwords in the first place? That's just plain foolish.

Better to remain anonymous and watch the guy get busted from a distance than have your neighborhood watch you get supenoed for testimony.
Anyone know what Kernel revision this new ROM uses? Sharp said it was going to have the same Kernel as the SL-5600....
I can make a caravan. I've posted to the Golum list about it.

Your right. chmod comes to my mind every time someone mentions DRM not being in Unix. Chmod is to DRM as the /etc/passwd file is to a database.

And you know if a 8000lb elephant(RIAA) cuts it's own throat, you damn well be gettin' outta da way!
LSI is prolly what enables Echelon to process so many faxes and conversations.

Don't forget to add, Beware the man who says,"Trust me." to your .sig ;)
Be sure to pop 5 bottles' worth of Viagra and some Male Growth Enchancement Pills [tm] before you visit that code monkey. I hear he has hemroids.
Does this mean I could get credit hours for playing Dungeons & Dragons? (or even NWN!)
