But the scope of the article is for more than an single computer install. Sure, Spybot and Lavasoft's AdAware are good for a single computer, but when you get more computers, you want something you can administer from your desk. That's what was being reviewed.
Personally, if I have to visit a machine, I use Spybot, SysInternal's ProcessExplorer, HijackThis, and information found in my head or Google... and sometimes SysInternal's RootkitRevealer.
The very brief summary makes me wonder if jms is trying to tie up the loose ends that that are around. If anyone read the other Crusade scripts that were on bookface.com (long since gone) as well as the Psi Corp and Technomage trilogies of books, you would notice a trend to talking about shadow tech in the timeframe after the main 5 years shown on the B5 TV show.
I just wonder if they can convince Bingo Bob to come back as Guideon...?
PS - I very much recommend the first Psi Corp book to any sci fi fan. Reading it requires zero knowledge of the show, though those that know the show get a slight bit more out of it, especially at it's conclusion.
Great in concept, but... The enterprise licensing that I've seen is fairly specific about what clients are allowed to use the software as part of the agreement (ie must be computer in company). Agreements also are very specific for versions, and most people wouldn't want the ISP forcing them to upgrade to version X to get access. Also, since the agreements come with support options included, the AV vendor would lose money on support.
BSOD
Well, ya know, it's a fun game. And, ya know, who can resist that Ol' Uncle Moneybags anyway?
As in Ford Prefect?
...where they go and buy Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh.

The new BSG is at #2.
Maybe not only, but I would hazard a guess to say you in the minority.
42.
Erm... no, that's not it...
