If you want news for nerds stop spending your time posting bull like that, and submit a story. A new species is science news, and most Slashdot readers also enjoy science. Hell, It's under the Science section of the site, if you don't want to read science news then config your acount a bit.
I like Matmos, Boards of Canada and Techno Animal alot right now. Remember that Candians, or lucky Yanks can hear truely ground breaking radio on Brave New Waves, on CBC Radio 2. Starts at 12:05 AM on weekdays.
I did some testing one with my geek phreaker friends.
Basically what it does is emit the 3 tone sound you get when a phone number doesn't exist. Did I mention this happens EVERY call you get. It hooks up to your phone, then when you pick up your line you hear the three tone sound, along with friends, family and occasionally telemarketers. We also discussed if this would even be effective on stopping telemarketers, and we decided it would have a minimal effect, at most. It's not worth it, and you will find yourself talking for about 2 mins at the beginning of every call, explaining to your friends why they heard that noise. Don't get it.
I always like to think that opening weekends simply gage the amount of hype a movie has, and not if it is any good. The Lost World is a perfect example, It did amazing on the first weekend, but will it be remembered as a great? I don't think so. We will really be able to judge a film on if it can last. From a studio's point of view, Hype and promotion can often be much more impotent then the film itself. That's enough of pointing out the obvious for one post.
I agree. You can see the adjusted rates at boxofficemojo. Gone With the Wind from 1939 is still #1 with $1,146,081,811 adjusted. Thats only $198,654,225 unadjusted.
I had a similar problem in which I called Rogers@Home about my capped speeds.
Me: Hi, I'm calling about the bandwidth cap in place...
Tech: First you must tell me you computer specs
Me: I run a pentium, with Mandrake Linux and Windows 98 duel booting...
Tech: Sorry, Mandrinux, what is that?
Me: Linux, Man-dra-ke Lin-ux.
Tech: I'm sorry, I can not support linux.
Me: But, this has nothing to do with Operating systems.
Tech: Please visit the website for more information. Thank You.
If they really want this thing to take off they should pop a solar panel on the back. I really know nothing about the inside of one of these, but I can't imagine it would be that hard to modify one. Even more fun would be to crank up the motor and get it going about 30 or 40.

Space channel here in Canada used to (not sure if they still do) play shows in 25 min slots, followed by 5 min long space channel made things.
Remember, to keep those biodegradable plastic bags together just ship them inside plastic bags.

This is slashdot. Nifty, but not terribly useful is what we call content.
I'm positive that a google cache of google would break the internet.

I would much rather see someone release this, fail horribly (which I think it will) and tarnish the idea, then someone doing it right.
Can I be the first to comment on the repeating comments commenting on how people keep repeating that this is a repeat?
Is that to the left, or right of the money signs?
Can I sue the owners of the billboards on Times Square for replacing a few inches of Slashdot with this ridiculous law suit?
But seriously, the film makers could just say that the NY scenes where taking place in year 2031, or come up with a similar explanation.
They do most of this so that doctors can put your face back together after you've been crushed by an SUV.
