  1. Re:$27,000? on An Informal Study Of K12 Classroom Software Costs · · Score: 1

But then Microsoft changes everything aroudn with each major release. Look at the XP desktop compared to the 2000 desktop; they're so different. The taskbar behaves completely differently now, etc. etc. So even if they do learn it in school, that knowledge will be semi-useless in two or five years.

Yeah, now it not only makes you go through endless menus, instead of a nice easy CLI, but also takes up your entire screen, so you can't see waht you are doing. And it now won't even opne if you are actually doing something computationally taxing.

"The world of James Bond is fiction. Bond wouldn't last 4 minutes as a real spy."

    This is probably true...
Unless our aging Bond is taking his "Q" approved "Viagra" he wouldn't last 30 seconds.

In my mind, a genuis. I have no doubt he will play "R" well, and humorus.

That's very easy to fix, the scientits simply call it the Saddam Hussein Asteroid.

  9. Re:Amen to that on Bon Jovi Tries New Approach To Fight Piracy · · Score: 1

Concerts will be money makers in the future!!

    According to rough calculation:
The Gorge Ampitheater in George, Washington seats 20,000
A Dave Matthews Band ticket costs an average of $50
    They play for 3 nights
    20,000 * 50 * 3 = 3,000,000

Not too bad for working less than 3 hours a night.

Bon Jovi, like many other bands out there (mainly small bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Built to Spill, bigger bands like ACDC, and DMB ) put out really great music (if you disagree, come to my house at new years and see 100+ people in togas singing "It's my life" ). I Buy their CDs because I like the bands, I pirate other bands becasue I don't like them as much. But I also like free stuff, so this is a win-win situation for me.

  13. What do you want to do? on Public vs. Private Sector? · · Score: 2, Interesting

It really depends on what kind of job you are looking for. I, as a researcher, am pretty much tied to public/non-profit, since I like the flexibility I get. If I went to a for-profit company I would not be able to direct my own research, and would pretty much be a monkey boy for my boss ( at least until I get my Ph.D. ). My roomate is thinking of switching out of a BIG computer company and going to a non-profit, so that his job is more interesting.
