Speaking of Adobe products, my GF happens to work for them, she is a whitebox tester, on InDesign ( which is the competitor to Quark ). They happen to be cathcing up with Quark, who has been entrenched in the profesional publication business for a long time, the reason, Quark has yet to release a OSX version, and will never release one that works seamlessly with Photoshop/Illustrator with easy to learn intuitive, consistent, GUIs. ... OTOH, it is slightly harder to find new versions of Illustrator on KazAa for mac.
So I am getting ready ot build a new(er) box to make a PVR setup work...who has good recomendations on:
1: A good TV-capture card ( low $$ a plus )
2: The best TV-out (S-vid/that yellow cable)
People say "just go buy one", but I would really like some experiences....
Public Radio
Is a great alternitive to the likes of ClearChannel and such. I live in Seattle and everyone I work/run/hang out/playfrisbee/frag with listens almost exclusively to KEXP a local public radio station that grew out of the UW, and is now funded in part by Paul Allen.
KEXP offers an excellent selection of online formats for listening to the station, including MP3/WMP(56K and 96K ) RealAudio and an Uncompressed 128K stream ( in WMA:( ). Also they offer the ability to listen to any show from the last two weeks, stored in their archives, or any live band that comes on which sometimes have included biggies like RadioHead/AfroCelt SoundSystem and local favorites like Minus the Bear/Death Cab for Cutie/Rhett Miller/Doves/Dear John Letters/Flaming Lips/Supersuckers in addition to the excellent programming and specialoty shows.
What's the point one might ask? Everyone listens to it, there are no commercials, everyone goes to the shows, and the artists are genuinely happy to have a forum for their music.
It is my hope that these bands, and the station, will keep themselves afloat by offering downloads as a part of subscribing to the station.
I have read a many of teh comments about the EOL from RedHat ( here and NewsForge ), and nowhere did I see that one had to actaully re-install the entire server. I often just use the "update" option on my latest RH CD.
Is this somehow no longer allowed, or do things change too much?
Actaully, you are all wrong. TheOnion posted this pic a while ago:

Which, without a doubt proves that Kevin Bacon is the culprit.
P.S. Make sure everyone you know sees this cause it is fricken funny.
I assume that it pretty widespread since REI had one, which was well-done. It seemed to increase resistance going uphils and all. The only odd thing is that you pedaled a bike in the real-world, but on screen you moved an ATV...
Damn straight. They follow too closely in the shadow of RedHat
Especailly now with the very Desktop Orineted RH8, with the controversial unifying theme. If Mandrake were to stay alive they should have beaten red hat to this sort of thing, and come out with some useful stuff, besides an installer that is needlessly graphical.
However, I would say that it is still the best intro Distro, and should be sold as such, maybe bundled with a computer?
As I said somewhere else, the cinerama in seattle ( the best theatre ever, 80' screen, one room only die hards) at the 4am show had no previews ( unlike the 8pm for some reason) and it was great everyone was cheerinlgy drunk the whole time, and everyone was clapping and hooting whenever gandalf took the stage....so yay seattle!
For the 4am show in Seattle, at the Cinerama, there were no previews....just non-stop action from the lights dimming.

If people are searching for Linux blah blah driver, then keep track of the top ones for knowledable folks to look at and do something about..myabe better support for certain graphics cards..or other possible kernel inclusions.
Knowing that advertisers are going to try something new, and also knowing that they can only do what the browser lets them, should it not be easy to not ever allow annoying stuff to happen?
Call me naive, but an open source project should be thrilled to not have to impelement something annoying, imagine the following bit of code:
Carry all of the boy bands into space for $100 million...then take bids on an open auction to leave them there...
I see nothing wrong with this idea. If pop stars are willing to pay for the station, and keep our (important?) research going, then, by god let them. I would rather the boy bands pay for it than my tax dollars.
dir or ls. No winner here both are not obvious what they do if you are newbie.
actually if:
dir = directory
and ls = list
and both give me a list of names rather than a directory, then it seems as though ls is the clear winner, and shorter to type, that extra key-stroke takes up many minutes wasted that could be used for pr0n searching.

Why?, the PlayStation3 is not yet out.
Ok, what will be the next movie?
Enterprise (NX-01) goes into the future to destroy DS9 before the series starts, thus preventing Voyager from getting started.
Yeah but:
Wheel of Fish: Do you want to keep your Red Snapper or take the box!
The Box!
You get....absolutley nothing!! So stupid!!

If I build it, does that make it an iMac
no its a MeMac, unless it is small, then it becomes a MiniMac.
Don't forget about the definite winner from a few years back, Jar Jar Binks.

Well, at times it does. Often I find that I would rather look at a bunch of animated hot-chicks, than a lot of Real(tm) Fat Guys.
Thanks for both updating us on the status of Mono, and patiently answering all of the questions.

Thanks for that link, it solves so many of my IE only problems.
Can you post a link to that story?
