Agreed, a small (maybee about 200VA) generator sounds like exactly what you need as it would be easier to transport less fragile and easier to setup than a bunch of solar pannels + regulator + batteries.
There is another posibility though. If your power requirements are low, then it might be worth looking into primary (non-rechargable) batteries. Primary cells have a much higher energy density than rechargables so if the intention is to only need to run your kit for a few days then it should be something to look into.
This could be exploited to do all sorts of nasty things with.
1) Get your boss to sigh a memo. 2) Wait a couple of hours for meno to dissapear leaving a blank sheet with a signiture. 3) Print yourself a new contract on the signed page with permanant ink giving you a pay rise. 4) Proffit!
A search for 'ms' finds nothing about Microsoft in the first 30 results. With Google, its the second result (first result if for a page is for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society).
Or...have all calls routed to the operator by default. If you are a regular caller to these countries, then ask the operator to set a flag on the telcos database, so that from then on, you can dial direct.
Most people would only be dialing these countries if their box had been hijacked.
People who regularly need to call these countries direct would be able to opt to have the convenience of direct dialing at their own risk.

No, the 42V refers to the 'on charge' voltage, the nominal terminal voltage is 36V ie 3x12V batteries.
Your standard car battery has an terminal voltage of 12V, but whan you are running the engine, and charging with the alternator, the voltage is somewhere between 13.8V and 14.4V (refered to in the aticle as 14V). The 42V refers to having the three '12V' batteries in series charging (3x14V = 42V).
So you would be fine jump starting a 36/42V car with three normal 12V car batteries in series.
I hate to say it, but I thinck that eventually everything we ever do in our lives will bw watched and recorded - not just in the ways that we are used to, like all financial transactions (cash as we know it will eventually become obsoolite), security cameras in public places etc., nanotech cameras will literally be everywhere - inside our homes and everywhere else too.
At some point in the future, all data will be be instantly retrievable from anywhere in the world. The question then becomes one of WHO has access to this mass of information. If it is information which is only avalable to governments or to large corporations, then we are in trouble, but if all of this information is avalable to everyone in the same way that now, just about anyone can browse the web whith as much effectiveness as a government, then we have the ability to moderate the activities of these organisations, as we will have the same abilities to watch the activities of politicians, as they will have to watch us.
Unfortunatly, I cannot see these powerfull organisations being willing to alow us to have that level playing field.

This would be easy to get around - After getting the disk from the shop, make an exact copy of the contents of the RW section. You can leter restore its origional setting at any point after you have you have ran/installed the program to get rid of the the DRM code that has been written to the disk

An easy way for a owner of a site to do this could be for the maintainer of the site to change the contents of robots.txt and then to send a request to Google to rescan their robots.txt and to act on the new file instead of the old one.
This would negate the need for any need for an e-mail request to google to be authenticated as only the maintainer of the site would be able to change the robots.txt file.
