    really a silly counter. I started in '98. I have had many computers since that first one so exactly what are the counting?

    From the looks of their their script, it appears that they are now counting each Linux computer that reports itself to them via that script on a weekly basis.

    The script works just fine using a properly configured /etc/nail.rc file and /bin/mail on my Mandriva system.

    If you use GMail like I do, some special configuration is needed:

    set smtp=smtp.gmail.com:587
    set smtp-use-starttls
    set from=USERNAME@gmail.com
    set smtp-auth-user=USERNAME
    set auth-login=USERNAME
    set smtp-auth-password=PASSWORD

    You may need to provide a link to /usr/bin/sendmail if /etc/alternatives does not already do that.

    Christian Legnitto, the Firefox release manager, put it most succinctly on May 25: 'Firefox 5 will be the security update for Firefox 4.' Problem is, users are being prompted to upgrade now but are hesitant because the new rapid release of updates means many add-ons are not compatible. And without security updates in between, many could be left exposed with unpatched browsers."

    Don't the people in charge think these things through? It appears not.

    The new versioning schema is the new security hole in Firefox.

    And all done for no real gain or benefit.

    I'm no legal expert, but news crews (or anyone else obviously shooting video) explicitly get an exemption, based on old cases. The sticking point here seems to be that the cops are claiming cell phones aren't obvious enough to qualify.

    They are obvious enough that they are banned at my local courthouse.

    Perhaps MA cops lack sufficient intellectual rigor to identify cell phones?
