The nice thing about a House of Lords is that it can delay hasty legislation, and advise changes. Don't you get all upset when a quiet and awfully unfair law passes? (like the US law on bankruptcy or the Irish law banning voting polls) The House of Lords can call attention to bad laws, deliberate on and propose objective changes to drastic laws (like the ones curtailing civil liberties), and is supposed to perhaps give balance to minorities. It's supposed to be like the US Senate, just less partisan.

Not everyone has nor needs nor wants business email. Take doctors for instance. My doctor refuses to get an email address for work, and never gives his personal one nor his cell phone number out. Why not? What if a patient emails him at 1AM, "Hey, I'm getting some chest pain," and is dead by morning. Is the doctor liable for not checking his email until 7AM? By this rationale, he only gives out his office number with a 24-hour operator in case of emergencies.

Well, in an ideal world, if the Iraqi economy wasn't in splinters and not subject to sabotage, and the US properly allocated the money to get the oil infrastructure into full production, they could cause a surge in supply.

As of February 2006, Iraq is lowering its production to 1.1 million barrels per day, the lowest since the latest war. The UK and Norway will run out this decade. To meet the worldwide oil needs in the future, the Iraqis and Saudis should be supplying 40-50 million barrels per day. Iraq has something like 11% of the total oil reserves, but only has 17 of 80 oil fields developed so far.

Look at how many mosques have been burned down or vandalized in America since 9/11, or the >1000% increase in hate crimes against middle-eastern looking people.

Bin Laden said he wants the US to stop propping up the corrupt Saudi regime, so pro-democracy and pro-Islam people can overthrow it, and he wants the US to stop blindly supporting Israel.

You say Catholics don't do it, but it still goes on. People place their faith in Saints instead of directly praying to God. Catholics tell me that Saint Anthony found their lost thing for them, when really God is the One who makes things happen. Hindus pray to statues, even though they know they're hollow, but the principle is still praying to something other than God.

Of course God understands why some people use imagery, but it's still a sin. People go too far, and it turns into idolatry. Why do some people go and prostrate before statues? I believe God forbids this practice. God also understands why some people murder, but that doesn't make it right.
