It depends entirely on your country - AIM in the US and most countries, but in the UK, MSN is the *ONLY* IM - random people in nightclubs most likely have it, but NOBODY has anything else.
Heck, maybe hell stop using ignorant sayings like "Seems the programmers couldnt be bothered with a memset()" and get his head out of his own arse whilst hes at RTFA.
Strange that everyone seems to cite an injury of some sort as their earliest memory.
My earliest specific visual memory was of falling off a small plastic tricycle in the back yard, and i cut my knee on these concrete stepping stone things, at the time it seemed like a lot of blood. I can vividly recall the garden and my dad digging something.
Funny you should mention it, $55 is the EXACT price I pay for a copy of Windows XP Home.
But, im an OEM.
CodeWeavers is good for the ability to run Windows apps in Linux - Thats where its value is.
Its not a Windows replacement because (obviouslly) it runs only a miniscule fraction of the stuff that runs on Windows. Its intended to let you mix one or two Windows things with Linux.
Exactly - There is no way for the server to determine whether the downloaded images actually get used or whether the browser did it merely to satisfy the server:)
Would be about 3 lines of code added to konqueror to download blocked files but not display them:)
You do realise that if Slashdot users avoided the banner adds, there would be no slashdot? If you want to use the website, view the adds. Only block popups which are nasty or if you dont like the website.
"enables the user to play all of those Ogg Vorbis files that you have sitting on your hard drive, but can't play because of lack of support from Apple."
I wish people around these parts wouldnt act as if everything does is delibartely designed to harm you. That evil, evil Apple, doesnt want you to play your ogg files! All of us are lumped with tons of ogg files on your hard drives but apple wont support us! Oh no!
Rhetoric, rhetoric, rhetoric. I wish the posters here would find a bit of INDEPENDENCE.
Hmm really?
I know of a KDE-Wm theme for some time which is almost EXACTLY like the window decoration. The rest IMO looked better in original XP.
The new start menu is definately neater then the bubbly XP one.
My personal oppinion is that the Aqua UI on OSX beats this and all others hands down (even though I dont own a Mac).

If you download the demo application, it states: "Power saving in the CPU architecture delivers an extended battery life of 3.5 hours".
3.5 hours battery life?!?
Does it mean 3.5 extra hours due to the CPU power saving, or am I right in thinking this thing has an overall battery life of 3.5 hours?
There is a simple difference between a PDA and a laptop/tablet PC.
Could you fit a website designed for 800x600 on your 240x160 PDA? Didnt think so. Maybe you can fit the logo though.
Well, I suppose its true about not wasting PCs, but lets be real, they tossed about 10, major companies regularly discard them by the hundreds. Infact, this is probably where they got them from, so they would have ended up in a third world country being stripped of connector gold anyhow.
But ofcourse, they could have made a decent Linux server cluster from those machines, presuming they work:)
Im pritty sure you can remove the fan from a power supply without causing much damage...
Line the inside of its case with small passive heatsinks, and put an ultra quiet fan in its place but use a resistor to slow it down till it makes almost no noise, and it would be okay I would imagine. My powersupply barely even gets hot - So long as you arent running like your monitor from it too I reckon a fanless powersupply would be easy... I may be wrong though.
Well, as stated, my website is about arts.
ASCII art is a bit of a niche, not quite my style, y'know what I mean?
Flash is an incredible thing: Portable vertex based animation. For me, an artist and animator, flash IS the internet. Therefore, I have no interest in Lynx users.

Cool, I was intrigued to see what the answer was, its so obvious now though :)
Im in the UK and I cant think of a single instance where an SMS hasnt arrived. I send tons and always get my reply.
They will not fit into the "case" compartment of most PC benches, if thats the kind you have.
Good idea, but Im pretty sure theyre a passing fad since the dimensions are so inefficient.
Heck, maybe hell stop using ignorant sayings like "Seems the programmers couldnt be bothered with a memset()" and get his head out of his own arse whilst hes at RTFA.
X *itself* takes up like 400kb of RAM.
Why bother making a big effort to support software modems? By the time the support is upto 50% there will be non left. Waste of energy!

The purpose of the message is to enlighten 640x480 newbies who complain about needing to scroll horizontally.
So write your own one, its an open standard.

However I agree that usually Unix admins also have Windows experience, but Windows admins rarely have Unix experience.
Hmm IIRC even a preemtible or law latency Linux kernel beat the Mac kernel in benchmarks, but I may be wrong.

I hardly think theyre keeping an eye on slashdot.

Pictures of Longhorn have been on google for WEEKS now. So somebody puts them on a website. Big deal.

I think this underlines a slight problem with the Slashdot modding system
