but this wasn't paint, it was chalk. Is the city of new york going to arrest a 7 year old for drawing with chalk on the sidewalk? Now logistically, this 7 year old would probably get run over from pedestrians..Is there maybe a law I don't know about that says you can't use nonpermanent chalk on a public sidewalk? I could understand maybe if it was indecent words but having a political opinion IMO, should not be punished.
I can foresee the EFF possibly getting into this..Something smells fishy and it isn't my upperlip...I find it highly surprising that he wasn't told what he was charged with, was he even read his miranda rights?
Allright, i stand corrected. I apologize to any reader of this thread, I didn't think my comment out before i posted. Kudos to the porter, theyre doin something good, i may go out and buy an xbox now....
I'm not saying that their work is in vain, i just don't see the point. If you care to explain it would be much appreciated, instead of calling me an asshole just because I disagree.
I'm not the least bit surprised by these numbers, the guy who got me into amatuer radio used linux first, then was a ham, i followed the same path...
Also, IRLP (a project similar to echolink but requires less computer use on the user side) is based on Linux, which makes it alot better than echolink in some repects because its alot harder for a non-ham user to set one up.
The majority of the HAM users i know, mostly use windows, simply because they've been using the same logging or PSK, or RTTY program since windows 3.1...they're satisfied with what they have and don't see a need to switch...
I've seen people use VOX even at field day for 15 meter phone...its a lot easier because that way one person can work the stations and log the contacts..not very good for a noisy place or if you want to talk to that opperator.
PTT is just as bad at times, people sitting on their 2m microphones when they're mobile because they put the mic too close to where they're sitting. The repeater is keyed up the whole time. You can hear some intresting stuff...
If anyone on Slashdot is in the Lafayette/Rayne, Louisiana area, AARA (Lafayette amature radio club) will be celebrating field day in Rayne, at the Civic center. Directions can be found on www.w5ddl.org
Myself, I'm going to work as many PSK31 contacts as possible, our mobile opperations van and 100 foot trailer tower will do just fine...although, i could get extra points for opperating QRP, 20 meters will be probably be pretty crowded...
exactly! and he wouldnt have a cell phone..but hey, they want to do that to make others feel guilty about buying SUVs and yadda yadda ya..I believe in Freedom of speech but they're just wack.
WiFi sniffer is a handy tool for finding wireless networks, its a credit card sized device that detects networks and their strength...Public WiFi spots are nice..It'd be intresting to see which platform of 802.11, a b or g..maybe all of em..very cool inovation
I remember back in the day, we'd bug the neighbors for different things, beer, wine, cigerettes, and ya know what? They actually gave it to us because they saw it on the list!
The free beer quote is from Revolution OS (or was used in it) by Richard Stallman to explain the Free software movement. That was the first I heard of it...correct me if I'm wrong people
What i want to know, can it handle alot of weight? If it cant transportation would be difficult...imagine, walking into a LAN party and ALL of the guts just fall out of your computer...hmm...wouldnt want it happenin to me...
For him, he's living out the american dream. The freedom to create and sell an idea.
Unfortunately, the mass population HATES this idea and in fact people have gone so far to block this technology with software.
This should get intresting...
Popups are similar to telemarketers. Often, the consumer is not intrested in the product. People who disliked this technology came up with devices to block telemarketers and now there is a legislative "do not call" list. It would be pretty hard to have a "do not popup" list. Unless the ISPs stepped in and placed ALL their users and perhaps had to pay a fee to keep the pop ups away.
I did see Minority Report, that's very true...Identies will ALWAYS be stolen, if people are determined to do something, they will. I quote Jimmy Buffet "Keys and locks are destined to be busted." By making it harder for the average person (or con "artist") to do some illegal, they'll work that much harder..
I always thought the term smart card was a bit..Oh I don't know, unfounded? It has a digital signature, great, what happens when it's stolen? And used against the owner? I'd like to see a card that had an image of your retina so they could tell if it was you, the eye has so many patterns, its almost impossible to fake. Cosmetics can already make someone look like someone else, but they havent figured out to replicate the eye yet...
Hmm...data getting back to UPS faster is nice, but if the customer has it already, why does is the data more treasured then? Their scanning facilities are nice, because it'll tell you where your package is in (city, state, en route etc etc) So getting the post data shouldnt be that important, should it?
Is this any different from the black and white touch pads they had before? It may have all the gizmos and gadgets, but is it needed? Are they going to be more productive now?
Intresting...My next question is, how is the hardware (if any) different from APRS? One of the biggest reasons why my area is not on APRS is because there is no incentive. The "old men" who are not technically inclined do not want or need to buy the add-ons for their current rig, or do not want to sell their HT for one that has APRS.
IRLP has been the main focus of our group lately, there are more people intrested in that over APRS, but I'll bring this up at the next meeting because there are a few Linux users in the local amature radio community
There's a few HAMs in my general area using APRS now, and we're considering puting a beacon on one of our highways...APRS itself is a nifty technology escpecially for ARES, but I'm not so sure about day-to-day opperations.
If I understood it correctly, he(or she) means that GPS doesnt tell you automatically if you are on course or not, it just tells you your current location...
I don't know if Bush has involvement in this..but its certainly a possibility..I think theres more to this story than what has already been said.

That movie was godawful..inacurate, lame plot, CGI was half decent..worst movie ever...
a close second is unbreakable, and yes, I did figure out the ending..about halfway....
as other people have stated, SNL sketch based movies are typically pretty bad..and not good bad..bad bad...

Hasn't this black and green box endured enough ports? Its a computer we get it, when will it stop? When all O/Ss known to man are on xbox?
jeez...someone has waaay too much time on their hands...

Kind of offtoppic, but if anyone tries this out and discovers its relatively stable, let me know, i only have discone's iso...
thanks

I wonder what the enviromentalists/christians will say...
What would Jesus use to power his cell phone?
Yes, i know its a contradiction but they did come up with the what would jesus drive aimed at SUVS...
