The article is about PC builders who are installing Win7 at the customers request, not high-street retailers where customers are not given a choice. This is not Slashdot trying to convince everyone Win8 is terrible, it's PC buyers who are rejecting it when given the option.
My son was always getting into trouble at school for starting fights (got very close to being excluded). Then I let him loose on some of my PC games to get some of the aggression out of his system. Over a short period of time he got into less and less trouble and is now doing a lot better with his studies and hardly ever gets into fights.
He now saves up all his frustration and anger for games and is a better person for it. Banning him from playing violent games would leave him with no release except for fighting at school...
I think someone needs to re-do their study into game violence and it's effects, not just looking at the very small number of people who Kill (that happen to have played a comuter game in the past).
The Wii will accept Gamecube memory cards, so no extra adapter needed.

Other Features: Four ports for classic Nintendo GameCube controllers. Two slots for Nintendo GameCube Memory Cards.
Nothing goes to waste with a Wii....

Did you ever try the code that allowed you to use 2 controllers in pod racer?
You used 1 for each pod, so you could fly like Anakin. Closest thing to flying a real pod racer that I will ever come....
When I got a DS Lite, I took my old DS and a copy of Brain Training to my mum's. When I showed her that it did not involve button bashing as she had seen all her children and grandchildren doing when playing games, she had a go. Although I had got her using a PC, I had never got her to play a game before, but this time she looked to enjoy herself.
When I left her house, I forgot (my excuse) to pick the DS and charger up and a weeks later she is still playing it 2 or 3 times every day. She now texts me to keep me upto date with how her age is falling on the game. She has even been looking at buying Brain Academy...
I Have set up computers for my Mother, Sister, Brothers and Children.
So far I have never had to help my sister or fix her computer. Helped my mother and children a couple of times each.
But my brothers are always having problems !!! and I must know how to fix it for them as I work in computing (I work on mainframes and unix) and have computers at home (using linux where possible).
So in my case it's not all family members, only brothers....
My favourites were:- Thank you for playing the demo version of the game, now please purchase the full copy & completing a room full of baddies only to find it was a dream and you had to do it all again for real.
But all these casual gamers that buy a portable DS and enjoy then 'fun' games, will then be very tempted to buy a console (Wii).
Nintendo is being very clever at preparing new customers it hopes will be console buyers in the future.
But most people will just stick with the standard that Microsoft as default. Once enough people are using their standard it will become THE standard (they hope).
Easier to get modded and more pirate copies of games available.
This time around, the blue-ray/HDMI system will make it harder to get pirate copies of games running on it. Advantage lost....
How many of the PS2 consoles sold, were bought as replacements for failed units (my brother is on his third unit). This is a great sales ploy, make consoles that do not last so have to be replaced on a regular basis. The PS3 has only been delayed to get a few more sales of replacement PS2's while customers are waiting.
Yes as you can see by my sig I am a Nintendo fan, but I do own a PS2 also. This was bought for GTA, when it was on special offer (but still a sale for Sony). When it comes to the games though, if it is available on both machines I buy the Gamecube version as I prefer the controller, load times & graphics.
We will have to wait, while Lucas spends a few years tinkering before he releases HD versions of Star Wars. By the time he is ready to release, we will know which format has has won the war and that will be the one he uses.
You are talking about 'official' release, but the pirate copies were everywhere not long after the cinema release. I knew lots of kids at school that wanted a player just to watch the pirate copy (even though it was poor quality).

Just a quick reply, using the updated browser on my Wii....

But Snake isn't a Sony mascot, as he will be appearing on the Wii in Smash Bros....

Already own a white PSP (Japan import), but this does not make me racist.
My new DS lite is a black one...(so is my U2 iPod)...

Has anyone got any comments about the actual interview ?
Or are we just having a slagging match/moaning war....

I don't know anyone who uses their PSn to play DVD's, but do know a lot of people who bought them rather than Nintendo consoles.
:- easy to chip and copy games easily available. They will buy a few real games and all the rest of their collections are copies.
The reason
and it was the first "decent" FPS for the console kiddies
What about Goldeneye...Not only a great single player mode, but the best multiplayer FPS on a console.
When I use my lightsaber, I want to use both hands.
Well how do you explain "George W. Bush" then ?
I thought that dogs were not allowed in McDonald's, so I would not be able to take my son and his DS in with me.
:- I would not be able to take NINTENDOGS off him, not even for a happy meal....
Reason
What about the songs that get stored in my brain after hearing them once.
Even when I don't want them there. - We've all heard songs like that....
Time to teach my children how to download songs on their machine.
:)
I will not listen to any they download
