You don't seem to reaize one thing about sqatting and that if a squatter does so long enough without the owner taking effective action, they can come to own the whole thing legally. Also, if someone owes a debt and they don't make any payments for a time that can vary based on jurisdiction, the debt can be legally discharged. There are also other situations where legality changes. Much of it is under the concept of statue of limitations.

I haven't been very aware of the concept of maintaining laws. Searching for "violence to maintain laws" doesn't turn up results pertinent to the concept. Do you know of any sites that cover the concept as well as whether or not that's what the Nazis did as opposed to the Nazis getting away with violating existing laws?

Legality can only exist on a basis of morality, and telling someone who has morals that conflict with the ones enforced by law that unequivocally they cannot break the law, at least until they get caught and even then go back to it the moment they've been released, won't get you very far. Sentence: Watching Triple-X, the sequel to the one Vin Diesel was in, on repeat until you come to the conclusion that it is the way some people actually live their lives.

  11. You sir have a very unique definition of violence. All law is enforced by violence.

  12. There are conditions that must be met before someone can become a mod and being a mod in one subreddit does not make you a mod in any other. Anyone can create their own subreddit, and that pretty much makes them a mod and usually for anyone else to become a mod the subreddit creator must approve it, but if someone can demonstrate to the runners of Reddit that the creator is negligent they can wrest control from the original owner and can be repeated for whomever is running the subreddit at the moment. This post just covers basics and there may be more details that have been overlooked.

The one flaw in your statement about science that irks me to no end when people say it is that preconceptions get set aside. I like the artificial intelligence story about how an AI student was trying to make an AI with no preconceptions that could learn Tic-tac-toe. The teacher closed his eyes and when the student asked him what he is doing, he said he was making the room empty. And don't even get me started on so-called intellectual honesty. I don't try to eliminate my biases, but if the evidence suggests otherwise my biases are likely to change accordingly, and depending on the circumstances I will identify my biases up front. I will also examine whether I have a bias someone says I have and if I have one similar I will generally thank the person for pointing it out, re-examine how my biases color my interpretation of the data both on my own and with the assistance of anyone who will. That, i believe, is a far better thing than what those who believe in intellectual honesty would have everyone to do.

  18. I'm not particularly fond of Obama, but if Cruz is right about this, it's the stopped clock right twice a day kind of right. The guy makes fun of Trump and then says he hasn't... I might technically not be correct in that he might have said he won't make fun of Trump, which usually means going forward, but my memory of the situation was that it was said in the context of whether he had made fun of Trump, though I now seem to recall that he said something like he wouldn't make fun of people like Trump does. Memory plays tricks and I'm on my phone right now, so its harder to research. I would normally be able to access my computer from my phone, but I had to disable VNC in order to address a problem with my PC. Take that, Terminator: Genesys.

Spoiler warning: For those of you who were never interested in Terminator or simply gave up on it, Terminator: Genesys mainly takes place in a nexus of sorts that apparently was a dumping ground for a number of parallel universes, one of which rebuilt John Connor into a loyal cyborg the mission of which is to create a new consumer-oriented software, Genesys, that presumably sees humanity as a threat to its existence and the only selling point the audience was given was that it would let all your computer devices work together and that's something that already comes in various shapes and forms at no extra cost in terms of money today. When was VNC first out? Because I could access my home computer desktop, again with NAT addressing from the College computers as if I was sitting at it back in 2001. And not quite the same there were time-share mainframes and BBSs before that... What was my original topic again? Oh yeah... It was that I didn't want to risk losing my post to check the details of what Cruz said that would cause me not to think this statement of his wasn't trustworthy. I hope someone or several finds this post amusing.
