They dominate one market, mp3 players, and with that leverage they have dominated the online music market (don't tell me iTunes has 90% because it's just that good).
In my experience, the iTunes Music Store really is that good. The iPod has certainly played a part in its success, but there are many people downloading songs who don't own an iPod. The service is easy to use, the selection is good, and the iTMS is the only major store that isn't Windows-only.

In short, I stand for creativitiy and originality, not mindless theft of other peoples' work. I'd like to see more of the former, less of the latter.
We used to have the best of both worlds. For example, Walt Disney's derivative works (Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book to name a few) were popular at least in part because they breathed new life into old stories--using old ideas to create something new. Some of history's most creative works began with a borrowed idea. Remember, Romeo and Juliet was based on a previous story. If anything, crippling the public domain is stifling creativity.

In short: the fingers on my mouse hand can do so much more than just pushing a plastic shell shell around and pressing one button. Would be a shame to intentionally leave 4 of 5 mousehand fingers unused. I have 5 fingers on every hand, so I might as well use them all.
Actually, the reason I love the Apple mouse is because I don't need to use any fingers to click it. I can rest my hand on it and click with my palm--it gives my poor, overworked fingers a much needed break. Thankfully, the Mighty Mouse looks like it won't be as hard on fingers as other multi-button mice are.

I use spotlight as an app launcher and it works very well. Type in a few characters of the app name and then hit command+enter. Command pops the selection down to the top hit, which is always the app for me.
It doesn't work as well as Quicksilver in my experience... primarily because I don't need to use Command with QS. The top hit is automatically selected. The QS algorithm is also much better at finding abbreviations across words. For example, it figures out that "mx" means "Microsoft Excel" faster than Spotlight does. That being said, I love Spotlight. I use Quicksilver as my app launcher and Spotlight as my file launcher.

I'm with you. Unlike the PSP and the DS, the GBA SP is actually portable. It fits in your pocket, it has a lot of great games, and the battery life is outstanding. I don't see how any handheld that's bigger and has a shorter battery life can claim it's an improvement. Unfortunately, Sony and Nintendo are going the wrong direction.

The very first thing the Democrats need to do is find a way to win at least one Southern state. Seriously, it's always going to be hard to win if you're conceding the entire South. If we can't find a charismatic Southerner in the next couple of years, it's going to be rough again. I've heard rumblings about the governor of my state (Mark Warner), but that's not encouraging when I sincerely doubt he (or any Democrat) could carry Virginia. I'm talking about how iTunes doesn't let me just drag music from the iPod into the iTunes library.
Sorry, I misunderstood. Anyway, you can do this as long as you have enough space on your iPod. When I had wanted to move some purchased music to another computer, I just dragged the files to the iPod, hooked it up to the second computer, and dragged them into iTunes. Yes, it means having two copies of the songs on your iPod (temporarily), but that shouldn't be a big deal for most people. If it is for you, well... it just doesn't work the way you'd like. It's a sacrifice many people are willing to make.

Okay, that's just crazy talk. I don't care whether it's advertised or not; it's something that a machine I paid hundreds of dollars for should be able to do.
It can. Furthermore, it has always been possible.
One thing I use my iPod for is to shuffle music back and forth between my computer at home and my computer at work. This is music I own: I've burned it from CDs I own, or I've purchased it from the iTunes Music Store. It should be painless and easy to copy from the iPod to my iTunes library, but it's not. Copying an album or two doesn't take that much time; copying anything more than that is a pain in the ass. I'm sick of measures to prevent piracy keeping me from doing things that are a legitimate use of music I own.
You're confusing the issues. The time it takes to copy more than two albums has nothing to do with "piracy" prevention and everything to do with the speed of Firewire or USB. Remember, patience is a virtue.
