Consider this: once upon a time, opium was found to have positive uses (dental anesthetic.) It was also widely used recreationally.
When opium was found to be harmul, 'refined' opium (aka morphine) was developed, and found to have positive uses (cure for opium and alcohol addition.)
When morphine was found to be harmful, 'refined' morphine (aka heroin) was developed, and found to have positive uses (childrens' cough syrup!)
Recently, when nicotine was found to be harmful, 'refined' nicotine was developed, and found to be effective on people suffering from ADHD, Alzheimers', anxiety, schizophrenia, and anger management.
Wow...and I thought this was Slashdot, not Techdirt!
Rather than dump an innovative flagship product, Verizon decided to get its collective hands dirty to fix problems Microsoft created.
Rather than sabotage the same flagship product with bad publicity about their supplier, Verizon takes over and does things right.
Do you have another BETTER suggestion, or are you just the first (paper) match in a flame war?

This isn't unusual, either -- the vague monthly invoicing and byzantine customer records lead to so many overbilled or unused service that there's an entire industry that does nothing but audit phone bills in exchange for a percentage of the savings.
The number one reason for overbilling...there is no risk at all to the billing company. Either they get more revenue than they deserve, or if they are caught, they get the revenue they deserve. And whether you pay a company to audit your bills or not, you overpay...
OK, Verizon won't bring DSL to Keller, TX (pop. 40,000) because there is only one central office, but move to a luxury ice-front condo on the pole and you redefine "residential broadband".
Agreed....not only does the current generation of PowerMac have handles on the exterior, but also utilizes "hubbable" interfaces such as USB and Firewire to at least move the cable clutter. They also allow easy motherboard access via the "drop-down" case design.
Two things keep the 12" Powerbook from going Cube:
-Huge Japanese market for extremely small, powerful laptops
-Available DVD burner in a small portable
The Cube was a smaller, less expandable PowerMac that cost more. The 12" is a more functional, more expandable (as laptops go) iBook that costs more.
...there has been a run on illicit payday loans! Investigators believe there may be a link to the Medicaid breach.

Indeed...my assumption was that there was a PC card slot.
