I know mine isnt - though it was talked about as a possibility when one of the feed companies they used went backrupt. Thankfully someone there pointed out the amount of bandwidth used if they outsourced it was more expensive than getting another feed
or for another funny clip about a K car - check out this reliant racing against a toyota supra - crowd reaction is funny (its zipped, so have to save 1st)
Norton Ghost is great for rolling out images to identical machines, but it's hit-or-miss with machines that differ on hardware.
Thats why Microsoft came up with their RIS service, you can create an image and it just disregards hardware on the machine. But I still use Ghost on dissimilar hardware where I work simply because its fast (copies our default computer setup in 5 minutes to a new pc and our programmer's boxes are done in just over 10) - plus if I recall, you can use ghost to roll out linux boxes too
if i recall, wasn't that just 2 voodoo2 12mb's put together in SLI mode on 1 board? I remember wanting one of those, but it was way too much while I was in school
Matrox? I haven't seen a Matrox card in action for years. Nvidia's TwinView seems to be dominating that segment now.
Don't think you pay too much attention then to that segment. Look at professional video editors (non 3d) - they pretty much all use matrox and have been for years, with very few companies making a dent in that niche. Their multiple monitor support is far superior to anything on the market including nVidia
Because in the opinion of the director, that part of the book didn't make a very good movie?
Either that or Return of the king will end about halfway before the book does because once the ring is destroyed, everyone will be happy and its safe to leave out all the Stuff with Faramir after that
Spoiled the ending? If i recall, that happens close to 1/2 way into the book and theres still quite a bit more afterwards, though the movie will probably end it there. Theres all the stuff about afterwards with Aragon, Faramir, Eowyn, and the returning of the hobbits to the shire, etc that just would make the movie so long. Afterall, they still have to show the end of the Two Towers to start the movie
Multiple copies on RAID in different physical locations have easily the reliability of tape
While that sounds all well and good, it costs me much less to send 500GB of backups off by tape everyday versus 500GB bandwidth for backups, plus gives the me option of going back to earlier REVISIONS of files. ie: Oh you need the file from last Tuesday because someone made changes on Wednesday and it wasn't noticed til now? I can do that with tape.
I do believe offsite realtime storage is good for some things, but its not a complete replacement for tape
My friend Jeremy had ls aliased to 'ls -F' - so one day right after finishing up a big comp sci project he decides to clear up some of the files he doesn't need to turn in (the compiled executables since the professor would recomile it anyways)
So, he does and ls and sees they all have a * after them (from the -F), and proceeds to then do 'rm **' and not realize his error until right a few seconds too late
I asked the channel what the best, current NES emulator was
my vote is for NesterDC:) Totally rocks and still get the console game feel using it. Plus lets my dreamcast be good for something other than House of the Dead 2
I've found that hard drive reliability is inversely related to the drive's rotation speed, raised to the nth power
that fails to explain why seagate cheetah 10k rpm drives are extremely reliable. They even have 15k versions now that I have never had a problem with. They all even carry 5 year warrenties
If you want fast 24bit video on a ss5 - you need to find an AFX frame buffer - there arent too many around, but it has a slot for and AFX one on the end behind the sbus slot, and that design is what the upa slots the creator 3d used was based on
Also, the point of my post wasn't pedantic - rather it was to point out that while in the limited and tiny world of programmers, kilo=2^10 might be well accepted, but in the much larger world of consumers, kilo=10^3, and always has. The hard drive manufacturers didn't come along and redefine the term - they're using it properly.
I Think you fail to realize that hard drive manufacturers used 2^10 for a long long time (feel free to check against almost any drive from the late 80's and early-mid 90's). This was because non technical people didn't buy computers very often. When the computer started becoming a standard appliance in most every house in the US - thats when the manufacturers switched to using 1E9. The problem as I see it is the manufacturers switched how they defined the size and thats why people bitch about this Mebi Kibi crap, and I dont blame them
Firstly, the 1.6 megabit download doesn't help when most of my traffic crosses the country and back. That's right, a request from here to a local provider often travels way the hell through chicago, DC, atlanta, LA, and who knows where.
That will probably happen if you get dsl in your area too - a lot of that is on the end of the backbone providers that the ISP is using and is out of their control for the most part
Space is big. It's impossible to track everything bigger then a tennis ball. NASA does try to track some objects that are in orbit, but they NASA never claimed to be tracking "everything".
Actually, Nasa did claim to be tracking just about everyting in orbit - there was a special on it on the discovery channel and the methods they used. The Space Control Center in Cheyenne Mountain is responsible for it. Read all about it
Those basketball ones were great, I also always liked the IBM one with Avery Brooks talking about linux. (for those that dont know who he is off hand, think sisko from star trek deep space nine)

in canada, your speedometer has to be accurate to within ten percent by law
10 percent seems pretty high, in the US, its around 2-3%, though I never have know anyones to ever be tested. Just keeps cops from giving 1-4 mph over the limit speeding tickets
Basically, they were pissed that this was NOT your typical action movie that has no layers of meaning and is purely superficial.
No, I was pissed because they dragged out their fight scenes. The fight with all the Agent Smiths was like 15 minutes long. I almost fell asleep during that part cause it got so repetitive

So they were playing Socom?

just hit a lob over it ;)

Alright! more stuff to further ruin/change Faramir! I still don't get why that changed him so much from the book
Spoiled the ending? If i recall, that happens close to 1/2 way into the book and theres still quite a bit more afterwards, though the movie will probably end it there. check out dosbox - great at emulating a 286 and even will use your sound card to emulate a soundblaster from that era
