Shouldn't that be:
"Hello, This is Bill Gates, and I pronounce Windows as..." followed by the sound a slightly multi-vocal robotic voice saying "resistence is vutile, you will use Windows".
I have 1 GB of RAM, my Ubuntu never swaps. I guess I do not use that much memory (although I develop software in Java...) under windows I discovered it keeps using my swap file. Thats why I currently use the following rule of thumb: Linux: 25% of memory as swap space, Windows: 100% of memory as STATIC (min and max the same size) swap file. But that's just how I use my OSsses. I game under Windows and I develop software, surf and read my mail under Linux.
I a way it will be their own demise. I think that almost every FireFox user (and that group is growing) is using AdBlock. We do not want to see the ad, let alone click on it and certainly not willing to buy some crappy product we have no use for.
This will only ensure that dumb people will pay for the ads. Dumb people that use browsers that do not have any option to block ads. The list of dumb users is large; hence profit! But the list is slowly getting smaller as people get smarter. Every (modern) kid is growing up with computers nowadays.
Why is it that open source projects have the most dumb names? Why is it that most open source projects are acronyms? I also found it typical that a lot of them refer to the name of the author. Looking at it this way: PostgreSQL name is not that bad. It's not an acronym (not completly), it does not contain the name of the author and it does not sound weird (not to my ears).
And then again: it's a name! All I want is a good database, and it is.
When I was eight I greated my first game. Back then it I wrote it in GWBASIC. Difficult to imagine but I think I would have been programming C# or Java if I started now and was eight all over again. Not that I would want to:D
Vendors can also sell USB devices that are completly empty. If the buyer whats to create a FAT partition on it, it will be his own choice. This way vendors do not have to buy a license.
I recently bought a external hard disc. I plugged it into my computer and copied a lot of stuff on it. After rebooting into linux I discovered the vendor sold the hard disks preformatted with NTFS. I had to repartition my external hard disk. If the vendor had sold it completly blank I would have formatting myself using FAT32...
I do believe that you should look at Netscape. They invented this thing and are commercially exploiting the GRE. They are always using an older version of the GRE.
I started out with a handicap: started programming BASIC (Microsoft GWBASIC) when I was eight. I learned real programming (C++) in collage. Then learned Java in 'the real world'. And now? I am back at programming in Microsft: C#. Only difference is: my colleages use the design mode and wizzards, everything I create is a code library.
Right. And until that time we will have to deal with a few million zompies that spam us? Not really a good option.
We should try to educate the users that are unaware to these problems. Just like I am constantly helping my parents and friends. They would never OK such a certificate because I tolled them that it could be spyware, etc.
that Linux is hard to install? People need to go te a InstallFest to get it done? They are overwhelmed by the amount of people showing up!
This is not good...
I would skip that release as developers already claim it will suck big time. Just wait for Wicket Witch.
Arrgghhh!!!! Java is NOT a scripting language!
I though I just read "As a masturbator, I can say...", this would clarify your statement :D
You mean math?

I had the same delusion. Or is it just plain wishing?
I was ok with the analogy, but you just made sure that I will have a nightmare...
Yeah that where great scetches!

'Gone in 60 seconds', right?
Gives a whole other meaning to 'FireWire' doesn't it?
Please guys. This site is for computer nerds not footbal vandalists ;)
i-Scrabble would have been better, no?
Just let Darwin sort it out.
