I think the point my be that it is not covered by the mainstream american press. Therefore it is the damn american's filtering the news and trying to control what we think by keeping us uninformed.

BTW, don't you know the status quo? When in doubt, blame Canada!

  2. Partial Challenge Task on ICFP 2002 Contest Winners Announced · · Score: 2

I don't understand how there can be an impartial "challenge task." Aren't some languages better suited to some tasks than others? I suppose if a language was truly superior the task would be irrelevant, but I don't believe such a superior language exists.

Yeah, it is disgusting how rampant corruption is in some third world countries. In some places a powerful family will control elections making certain that they remain in power for generations. It is even possible for a president to sucede his father and for brothers to retain power at the same time despite gross incompetence.

  6. Plug-In? on Designing Computer Animation Software? · · Score: 2

A more doable approach to getting into 3D animation software design would be to design something to complement an existing program.

For example Weta designed an AI program to create the hordes of characters in the battle scenes of LOTR. Their program (plug-in?) worked with Maya (the industry standard)and far surpasses previous attempts. Compare the armies in LOTR to the robot army in Star Wars. If you look real close at Star Wars you can see multiple robots that are duplicates but in LOTR every character in the army behaves independently because they are all AI.

This guy could work on something like that which would improve on the allready impressive Maya. Or you could just contribute to an open source project...
